There’s something pretty special about a business that starts not with a grand plan… but with a gut feeling—literally. In this episode, I sit down with military spouse Krista and her husband Kevin, a Veteran SEAL, who turned a personal health challenge into a thriving home-based sourdough business. What began as Krista simply not feeling her best—especially after eating store-bought bread—quickly became a deep dive into nutrition, ingredients, and the art of baking bread the right way. Armed with her nutritional background and a whole lot of curiosity, Kristen decided to take matters into her own hands (and kitchen). Enter Kevin—lovingly dubbed the “indentured servant to a sourdough baker”—who jumped in to support the mission, proving once again that behind every great military spouse venture… there’s a team effort. They started small—baking fresh loaves and placing them outside their home with a simple sign, running on an honor system. No storefront. No big marketing push.
