137. All about Poo with Lin Petry

Lin Petry is a Kendal based registered nutritional therapy practitioner who is passionate about helping people make sense of food. She focuses on how real foods and simple ingredients can be powerful tools to support your health. She aims to make nutrition feel approachable, meaningful and fun with a focus on optimal gut health to address chronic conditions, hormone balance and low energy levels. Have a look at https://www.linpetrynutrition.co.uk/nutritionprogrammes to find out more. Lin says: This was a lovely chat about poo and the microbiome, not an official presentation. So when I was thinking back about it I would have liked to add a little more detail. For instance that the microbiome is as individual to each of us as our fingerprint, that it helps to break down foods which makes the nutrients in those foods more bio-available, that in adults it weighs approximately 1.5 kilograms, which is quite similar to our brains. The microbiome is also known as the second brain. When I mentioned about eating a good variety of plant foods because the microbiome family likes a good variety, but also each type of bacteria (each member of that extended family) prefers specific kinds of fibre. I could go on.... An important note on combining hydration and fibre: I mentioned hydration first, before I talked about eating a good amount of fibre, that is because it is important to hydrate and have this established as a good habit before you increase your fibre intake to avoid possible constipation. In summary, there are a lot of layers to consider when talking about how to get a good poo, we could easily chat a whole day 🙂

Portada del episodio 136. All you need to know about Injuries with Amelia Gill

136. All you need to know about Injuries with Amelia Gill

Episode 136 of The Move Me Happy Method Podcast In this episode, I’m joined by online coach and sports therapist Amelia Gill (@amelia_projectyonline) to talk all things injury, rehab, recovery, mindset, and how to stop one setback turning into a full-blown spiral. Because injury doesn’t just affect your body - it affects your confidence, your routine, your identity, and the way you think about yourself. We talk about: * why injuries actually happen (it’s usually not just “bad luck”) * the warning signs people ignore * what to do when a niggle first appears * how to stop catastrophising every ache and pain * why rehab needs patience, not panic * and how to stay active and mentally grounded when training isn’t going to plan Amelia also shares her own story - from being injured in the army to becoming a sports therapist and coach helping people rebuild strength and confidence after injury. Inside the episode: * The biggest reasons injuries happen: * doing too much too soon * poor recovery * stress overload * hormonal considerations in midlife women * Why your body usually whispers before it shouts * The mistake people make when they stop everything completely * Why pain reducing doesn’t always mean you’re fully recovered * How rehab should become part of training not separate from it * Practical ways to modify workouts instead of quitting altogether * The emotional side of injury and losing confidence in your body * How to stay patient when recovery feels slow * The importance of maintaining identity, routine, and momentum * Why strength training is one of the best long-term tools for injury prevention This episode is for anyone who’s ever: * panicked over a niggle * felt frustrated by injury * struggled to slow down * or worried they were “back to square one”
