I wrote my book, The Soul Unleashed, because my son, Matt, asked me to from spirit. What I didn’t know then was that he’d still be teaching me. #198 Civil War Mystery: The Soldiers Who Never Got a “Good Death”

What happened to Civil War soldiers who never made it home, and what did a “good death” really mean during the Civil War? In this Civil War mystery, I explore the story of Union soldiers killed during the 1864 Battle of Mount Zion Church in Loudoun County, Virginia. These Civil War soldiers from Massachusetts and New York died far from home and were buried in unmarked graves or lost burial sites, leaving families without what was then understood as a “good death.” During the Civil War, the idea of a “good death” was central to how people understood dying. It meant being surrounded by family, having time for final words, and receiving a proper burial. But for many Civil War soldiers, especially those killed in sudden battles and cavalry skirmishes, that did not happen. #197 Civil War Mystery: Why a Dead Union Soldier Appeared Where He Wasn’t Buried

Why would a Civil War soldier appear in a place where he was never buried? At Mount Zion Church in Aldie, Virginia, historical records show that Union cavalry trooper Owen Fox died miles away from the battlefield and was likely buried in an unmarked grave. But during a visit, a medium identified him at the cemetery and described details that matched the historical account. This is part of an ongoing Mount Zion Civil War investigation. In earlier episodes, I examined the 12 Union soldier markers, the conflicting historical records about what happened to the bodies, and used tools like dowsing rods to test whether anyone is actually buried there.  What could be the reason behind all of this?
