Unlocking the Power of Archetypes in Healing Part 2

The fun thing about this episode is it shows *my* growth from 2020 to 2024 - I changed a LOT! This is some kind of proof that “doing the work” works and shows why I am so passionate about brining the step one of this work to more people.  What is “the work?” It's therapy- with the right therapist, check out ep 6>>? For more on that,  it’s dialling in your food to support you, it’s movement, once it was more about mindfulness and now it’s more about somatic nervous system recovery work - it's sleep, connection… Head to the podcast to see real growth happen, and how applying the archetypes works in real life! Chapters 00:00 Understanding Archetypes: Origins and Importance 03:11 The Role of Archetypes in Psychology 05:55 Exploring the Light and Shadow of Archetypes 08:53 Archetypes and Personal Growth 11:59 The Connection Between Archetypes and Trauma 14:51 Practical Applications of Archetypes in Healing 18:06 The Journey of Self-Discovery Through Archetypes 20:56 Freedom and Choice in Personal Development 24:00 The Impact of Trauma on Self-Understanding 27:04 Post-Traumatic Growth and Awareness 30:07 Finding Freedom Through Self-Awareness 35:04 The Pursuit of True Happiness 36:09 Understanding the Inner Self 39:14 The Integration of Self and Soul 41:26 Exploring Internal Family Systems 44:12 The Role of Archetypes in Personal Growth 46:30 Balancing Archetypes for Healing 50:01 The Journey of Self-Discovery 01:01:06 Bringing It All Together: Lessons Learned Resources Mentioned * Awakening the Heroes Within by Carol Pearson * Original archetype book with 12 archetypes and self-assessment tools. * Whose Life Am I Living? by Carol Pearson * Updated version of the above with improved research and assessments. * Heroic Myth Index / PMAI * Archetype self-assessment tool to track archetype scores over time. * Attachment Theory * Secure vs. insecure attachment reflected in archetype development (e.g., Innocent/Orphan). * Buddhist concept of non-attachment * Applied to relationships and life events to reduce unnecessary reactivity. Actions / Practices 1. IFS (Internal Family Systems) Work * Speak to your parts (e.g., orphan, warrior) instead of trying to change external figures like parents. This means to comfort and support your inner little ones.  * Strengthens the Self (“capital S”) so that parts can trust there’s someone in charge. Head to our meditation here: ADD 2. Archetype Awareness & Integration * Identify dominant and weaker archetypes in yourself. * For example, observe the balance between archetype pairs (e.g., Innocent vs. Orphan, Creator vs. Destroyer, Sage vs. Jester). * Notice where imbalance exists and consciously develop weaker areas using the following two points as ideas. * Cultivate the ability to let situations unfold while remaining capable of stepping in when necessary (Ruler + Magician balance). * Incorporate lightness (Jester archetype) alongside serious pursuits (Sage archetype) to enjoy life and reduce constriction. Connection & Courses: I am in the process of transitioning to a new platform for my courses, so come back for new links. Old ones will be updated ASAP.    Helplines  Find your local support helpline here, please contact us if you wish for us to consider adding other support lines, thank you.  Australia: Lifeline 13 11 14 Domestic violence support: 1800 RESPECT Keywords archetypes, personal development, shadow work, trauma, healing, Carl Jung, self-awareness, psychological archetypes, growth, balance Disclaimer  THIS INFORMATION IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES AND IS NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE CLINICAL CARE OR THERAPY. Ep 8. Unlocking the Power of Archetypes In Healing. Part 1.

In this episode, we introduce you to archetype theory, as it applies to healing, and we dive into the archetypes that quietly shape your entire life — from the Innocent and the Orphan, to the Warrior - Caregiver, Seeker - Lover, Creator - Destroyer. Garry breaks down how these parts of you develop, how trauma distorts them, and how midlife often awakens the ones we’ve ignored. If you’ve ever wondered why you’re shifting, shedding, or suddenly fighting for yourself in new ways… this one will land deeply.  This is essential listening before the next one, which is a demonstration of how I healed and grew, and we break down where I was and where I ended up, using archetypes. HOT TIPS #1 Reclaiming Your Body: A Journey to Healing

In this episode of the Superpowered (R)evolutions podcast, host Andria Rose shares her insights on trauma recovery, self-care, and personal growth. She discusses the importance of understanding trauma symptoms, the need for meaning and connection in life, and the significance of navigating relationships and personal boundaries. Andria emphasizes the power of radical honesty and responsibility in the healing journey, encouraging listeners to explore life's questions for growth and to find their true selves. The episode concludes with an invitation to join a supportive community focused on healing and empowerment. The Journal Prompts are below... Chapters 00:00 Introduction to Trauma Recovery and Self-Care 02:36 Understanding Trauma Symptoms and Their Impact 05:31 The Importance of Regulation and Self-Reflection 08:10 Navigating Relationships and Setting Boundaries 11:19 The Journey of Healing and Finding Meaning 13:42 Radical Honesty and Responsibility in Recovery 16:26 Journal Prompts for Self-Discovery 19:05 Imagining a Healthier Future 21:51 The Role of Curiosity in Personal Growth 24:12 Integrating Knowledge and Practices for Healing 27:03 Conclusion and Call to Action The journal prompts are: 1 *Am I half arsing my life? 2. *Are some of your behaviours slowly killing you? 3. Are you accepting “less than…” situations? 2 To journal on specifically: the question I asked myself often was, *“What does staying alive look like?” You could also ask, *“What would full arsing my life look like? (without burning out, BTW!).” Again, this is a no-judgement question, and a no-shame question. You could journal on *what the things you struggle with now could look like if you learned how to do The Things, or finally integrated The Things? This question made me notice things like: * Where I was being quiet in relationships that I wasn’t being treated well in, as in treated badly: not prioritized, teased, and ignored. It takes a toll on one to take the shit folks throw at you. Shit, that is often due to their own stuff like: lack of presence, lack of self-love, lack of happiness, fulfillment, meaning…  * Being curious about how to curb my addiction without force and control, because that never worked… This could become a “noticing practice” - with action NOT immediately following. Some advice: don’t jump into using your voice every urge you have to use it. It’s really worth contemplating if the someone receiving has the capacity to hear, and we need to weigh up what is important to us, there are tools for this that I use with myself and clients.  3 The next version of you is just around the corner… Zip forward a few months into becoming this version of you, this future you… *What is her day like? Her life? You’ve gotten the right support, someone has come and helped secure your wobbly, messy puzzle with some magic missing pieces and stabilized it with corners and sides… so, *now what does life look like? What is happening that is different from now? **How does that feel?  *Describe how it feels that you can finally be the you that you have been longing for. After all, you are the one you’ve been waiting for, right? Your Highest Self is inside, cheering you on.  Is it: Sheer, unadulterated joy? Glorious relief, soul-deep peace of finally becoming More You? Ep. 7 Can the Traumatized Brain Really Heal? -- What trauma does to your brain, and why recovery is absolutely possible.

In this conversation, Garry and I delve into the complexities of childhood trauma, exploring how adverse experiences affect individuals' responses and the mechanisms of fight, flight, and freeze. It emphasizes the importance of healing and the role of support systems in recovery, highlighting that understanding trauma is essential for effective healing. Chapters 00:00 Understanding Trauma: A Step Towards Recovery 05:08 Developmental Trauma: The Impact on Brain Development 08:02 Recognizing Signs of Trauma in Children 10:58 The Role of Hypervigilance and Nervous System Responses 13:55 The Effects of Trauma on Behavior and Relationships 16:50 The Importance of Emotional Support and Healing 19:59 Navigating Relationships and Attachment Styles 22:56 The Long-Term Consequences of Unresolved Trauma 26:02 Parenting Through Trauma: Breaking the Cycle 30:50 Understanding Trauma and Its Impact 34:27 Complex PTSD: Development and Triggers 40:13 Coping Mechanisms and Healing Strategies 46:19 The Impact of Complex PTSD on Relationships 52:07 Post-Traumatic Growth and Hope for Healing Practices To a few simple practices you can start exploring: 1. Notice your patterns – Keep a little journal of when old reactions or feelings show up in daily life. Awareness is the first step toward change. 2. Ground yourself – Spend a few minutes each day feeling your feet on the floor, noticing  your breath, or naming what’s around you. It helps your nervous system feel safe. 3. Move gently – Try something small, like a stretch, a short walk, or one of my free movement classes. It’s about reconnecting to your body, not pushing it. 4. Reach out – If this brought up difficult feelings, talk to a friend you trust, or seek out support. You don’t have to carry it alone.
