Sobre ShifaTalk: Because Somebody Had to Say It.

Asalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. I'm Melissa Zamora, and this is ShifaTalk.I'm not a scholar. I'm not a sheikh. I don't have all the answers — and honestly, that's kind of the whole point.I'm just someone who grew up with a version of Islam that didn't always feel like mercy. That sometimes felt like fear. Like shame. Like a list of things I was doing wrong. And at some point, I had to ask myself — is that actually the deen? Or is that just what damaged people passed down to me?That question changed everything.ShifaTalk is what came out of that. It's not a lecture. It's not a fatwa. It's a community of real people, asking real questions, sitting with the hard stuff together. Brothers and sisters who are tired of carrying a version of faith that was never really theirs to begin with. We're here to unlearn. Not the deen — but everything that got layered on top of it. The guilt. The fear. The cultural baggage. The wounds that were handed down as if they were a religious obligation. This is a safe place to say "I don't know" and "that hurt me" and "I want to find my way back" — all at the same time.So if you've been struggling in silence, you're not alone in here. We're all figuring it out together.May Allah have mercy on all of us as we find our way back to Him. Ameen.Welcome to ShifaTalk. I'm glad you're here.Instagram & TikTok: @shifatalk

If Allah Loves Me… Why Did He Let This Happen?

Why does Allah allow pain? Why do good people suffer? And if Allah is the Most Merciful, why do some hardships leave us questioning everything? This is one of the most difficult questions a believer can ask—and one of the most important conversations we can have. In this episode of ShifaTalk, we gently explore what the Qur'an and the lives of the Prophets teach us about suffering, unanswered questions, and Allah's mercy. This isn't an episode that tries to explain away your pain or tell you to "just have patience." Instead, it's an invitation to bring your broken heart back to the One who already knows it. If you've ever wondered, "Ya Allah... why?" or felt distant from Allah because of what you've been through, this conversation is for you. May this episode remind you that your pain is real, your questions are heard, and Allah's mercy is greater than anything your heart has carried. "Don't let your hardest day become the definition of who Allah is."

You're Waiting for Allah… But Allah Might Be Waiting for You.

Sometimes we spend so much time asking "Ya Allah, when?" that we forget to ask, "Ya Allah, what are You asking of me while I wait?" In this episode of ShifaTalk, we explore the true meaning of tawakkul—trusting Allah while taking the means He has placed before us. We'll reflect on the waiting seasons of life, why a delay doesn't mean Allah has forgotten you, and how your breakthrough may begin with one small step of faith. If you've been waiting for healing, a job, marriage, children, financial relief, or simply a sign that Allah hears your du'as, this episode is for you. Sometimes Allah changes our circumstances. Sometimes He changes our hearts first. And sometimes, that becomes the greatest blessing of all. May this episode bring comfort, clarity, and hope to every heart that is waiting. 🤍 Don't forget to follow ShifaTalk and share this episode with someone who needs the reminder.

How Can We Judge Someone's Choices When We Know Nothing About Their Options?

We see the decision. Allah sees the journey. We see the mistake, the failure, the moment someone fell short. But Allah sees the tears, the struggles, the battles they fought before anyone ever noticed. In this episode of Shifa Talk, we're talking about judgment, humility, and the danger of assuming we know someone's story when we've only witnessed a single chapter. What if the person you're judging is carrying a test you were never asked to carry? What if the only reason you're standing where you are today is because Allah protected you from the trials they faced? And what happens to our own hearts when we spend more time examining other people's faults than our own? This isn't a conversation about excusing wrong. It's a reminder about mercy, gratitude, and remembering that guidance itself is a gift from Allah. Because the believer doesn't say, "I would never." The believer says, "Alhamdulillah that Allah protected me, and may Allah protect them too." 🌙 Shifa Talk How Can We Judge Someone's Choices When We Know Nothing About Their Options?

Are You Worshipping Allah… or Negotiating with Him?

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why you worship Allah? Is it because of who He is… or because of what you hope He'll give you? This episode isn't about making you feel guilty. It's about inviting you into one of the most honest conversations you may ever have with your own heart. Many of us don't realize that our relationship with Allah can slowly become transactional. We pray harder when life falls apart, we make du'a when we need something, and when the answer is delayed, we quietly wonder if Allah has forgotten us. But what if the waiting was never a sign of abandonment? What if it was an invitation to know Him more deeply? In this episode, we explore the subtle ways we negotiate with Allah without even realizing it, the beauty of trusting Him when His wisdom doesn't match our timeline, and the difference between loving His gifts and loving the Giver Himself. Through reflection, real-life examples, and the stories of the Prophets, we'll rediscover an essential truth: Allah is worthy of worship not because He gives us everything we ask for, but because of who He has always been—The Most Merciful, The Most Wise, The Most Loving. So before you make your next du'a, ask yourself: If Allah's answer was "wait," would your heart still stay at His door? This conversation might not change what you're praying for. But it just might change the One you're praying to. 🤍
