Keep Running

This powerful message invites us to explore the biblical concept of endurance through a fresh lens—not as mere survival, but as purposeful stickiness. Drawing from Hebrews 12, Romans 5, and James 1, we discover that endurance is the spiritual Velcro that keeps us attached to God and His people through every season of life. The sermon unpacks five transformative truths: endurance keeps our hearts, heads, and hands open to receive God's strength (illustrated through the Parable of the Sower in Luke 8); it shapes how we see the world by helping us grasp the bigger picture beyond our immediate circumstances (2 Corinthians 6); it surrounds us with the right kind of people who strengthen our faith (Colossians 1); it keeps us spiritually clean as we pursue righteousness together (1 Timothy 6); and ultimately, it makes us more Christlike with each passing day (2 Peter 1). This isn't about white-knuckling our way through hardship—it's about recognizing that suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope that never disappoints. We're reminded that we were never designed to figure this faith journey out alone, and that the struggles we face aren't obstacles to our growth but the very means by which God refines us into the image of His Son.

Deacons Serve Part 2

What does it truly mean to serve like Christ in our everyday lives? This powerful message takes us deep into the biblical foundations of servant leadership through the lens of the deacon ministry. We explore 1 Timothy 3:8-13 and Romans 16:1-2, discovering how the early church revolutionized the ancient world by choosing to serve rather than be served. The sermon introduces us to Phoebe, the first recorded deacon in Christian history, whose role as both servant and patron painted a vivid picture of what it means to leverage our resources, time, and gifts for others. We're challenged to examine four key characteristics that define servant-hearted living: high character that's worthy of respect, trustworthiness that makes us dependable, spiritual discipline rooted in prayer and Scripture, and faithful family leadership. But this isn't just about a church position—it's about all of us embracing the 59 'one another' commands scattered throughout the New Testament. From loving one another to bearing each other's burdens, from showing hospitality to building each other up, we're called to an others-first mindset that mirrors Christ himself. The message beautifully connects Memorial Day's theme of sacrifice with our spiritual calling, reminding us that true freedom—both national and spiritual—comes through those willing to lay down their lives in service.

Deacons Serve

This message invites us into a powerful exploration of servant leadership through the biblical role of deacons. Drawing from Philippians 2:5-11 and Titus 1:5, we're reminded that Christ himself modeled the ultimate picture of servanthood—not grasping at authority, but emptying himself and taking the form of a servant. The teaching challenges us to understand that deacons aren't simply administrators or decision-makers, but men and women who paint a living portrait of Jesus through their others-aware hearts and mindsets. We discover that being 'supported by deacons' means having faithful servants who lead in care, prayer, soul care, and community responsiveness. The message emphasizes that there's a profound difference between serving in the church and 'deaconing' in the church—the latter being a Spirit-led calling to extend the mission of Christ by fortifying the flock and serving as co-shepherds. As we consider this teaching, we're invited to examine our own lives and ask whether God might be calling us to step into this ministry of humble, grace-driven service that mirrors the heart of Jesus who came not to be served but to serve.
