31. A Day in My Wheels with Alex Johnson

Alex Johnson is on a mission to change the way communities approach accessibility for disabled citizens.  Last week, that mission brought him back to Clarksville, where he again challenged local leaders to spend a day in his wheels. Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts, along with several other city employees and department heads, spent a portion of their work day in wheelchairs in order to experience some of the challenges faced by disabled people in our city. 30. 'Look for the helpers,' with Michelle Austin

In this episode we are joined by Michelle Austin, Director of Neighborhood and Community Services! As we enter the winter months, the City of Clarksville’s Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (CNCS) is working with community partners to ensure that the needs of those experiencing homelessness are met in Clarksville. Warming shelters will open in Clarksville on December 1, and will be accepting men and women at two locations. Families will also be able to find support. Additional support is available for individuals facing financial hardship, including those affected by the recent government shutdown. These are just some of the many programs CNCS coordinates to help the people of Clarksville.
