Almost half of Afghanistan's population are women. These women have always sought self-sufficiency and education, but for the last 20 years, have struggled for autonomy under the deep-seated patriarchy established during Taliban rule. Fleeing the Hell to the Unknown | Ronahi Hasan

On 14 April 2022, the British government made the controversial announcement that refugees arriving in the UK via the English Channel would be transferred to Rwanda for their asylum applications to be processed. In this episode, Ronahi Hasan interviews Alaa Habs, a refugee who fled war-torn Syrian to seek sanctuary in the UK after making the perilous journey across the English Channel. At the time of recording, Alaa was in a detention centre, awaiting his fate.
