episode 1 Peter 2:9-12 - The Glory and Growth of Our Salvation cover

1 Peter 2:9-12 - The Glory and Growth of Our Salvation

In this episode we turn to 1 Peter 2:9–12 and consider both the glory and the growth of our salvation. Peter reminds believers of the dramatic change the gospel brings into our lives. In Christ we are no longer what we once were—we have become a chosen people, a royal priesthood, and a people belonging to God. These verses call us to pause and reflect on the mercy we have received. Once we stood condemned in our sins, but now we have received mercy through Christ. That reality changes everything about who we are and why we live. Yet Peter does not only remind us of what we have received; he also calls us to grow. Because we belong to God, we are to abstain from the passions of the flesh and live honorable lives that reflect the work Christ has done in us. Join me as we reflect on the glory of what God has done and the growth He calls us to pursue. Let’s dig into God’s Word and look to Jesus, our true hope. episode 1 Peter 2:4-10 - Christ the Cornerstone cover

1 Peter 2:4-10 - Christ the Cornerstone

In this message, we continue in First Epistle of Peter 2:4–10 and consider what it means that Christ is our Cornerstone. Peter calls Him the “living stone”—chosen by God, precious to Him, yet rejected by men. We’ll look at how the Old Testament points to Him as the foundation, and why our hope is not rooted in a place or a system, but in a Person. Christ is not a dead Messiah. He is living, reigning, and interceding for His people. From there, we turn the focus toward the church. If He is the living stone, then we too are living stones—being built together into a spiritual house. This passage calls us to unity, reminds us that we are still being built, and anchors us in the truth that suffering does not mean we are unloved. So the question before us is simple but searching: What are you building your life upon? Join me as we consider Christ the Cornerstone and what it means for us as His people. Let’s dig in and look to Jesus, our true hope. Send a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2130766/open_sms]

episode 1 Peter 2:1-3 - Put Off, Put On, Progress cover

1 Peter 2:1-3 - Put Off, Put On, Progress

Today we’re diving into 1 Peter 2:1–3 as we consider what it means to put off the old, put on the new, and truly progress in our salvation. Peter is not introducing a new idea here—he’s continuing his call to holiness and now getting very specific. We look at five sins we are commanded to lay aside: malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander. These are not small matters. They strike at the heart of the church and at the motivations behind our actions. If we are in Christ, these things should be falling away from our lives. But Peter doesn’t just tell us what to put off—he tells us what to put on. Like newborn infants crave milk, we are to crave the pure spiritual milk of the Word. If we want to grow, if we want to look more like Jesus year by year, then we must give ourselves to Scripture. The Word of God is not optional for the believer; it is essential. And then Peter gives us that searching word: “if.” If we have tasted that the Lord is good, there will be evidence. There will be growth. There will be progression. Join me as we examine our hearts, consider whether we are progressing in this salvation, and look to Christ who not only saves us but sanctifies us. Let’s dig in and look to Jesus, our true hope. episode 1 Peter 1:22-25 - The Work of the Word cover

1 Peter 1:22-25 - The Work of the Word

We’re closing out 1 Peter chapter 1 by considering the enduring power and work of the Word of God. In a world where life is fragile and temporary, Peter points us to something that is true, imperishable, and eternal. The Word of God not only reveals the Gospel that saves us, but it also shapes how we live, how we love one another, and how we build our lives, families, and church. Together we’ll examine what it means to move beyond simply confessing a high view of Scripture and instead live as people who truly believe it. If the Word is eternal and life is a mist, then how should we live? Join me as we consider the work of the Word and the love it produces in the life of the believer. episode 1 Peter 1:20-21 - The Sovereign King cover

1 Peter 1:20-21 - The Sovereign King

Today we are stepping into a glorious mystery as we consider the sovereignty of our God. In 1 Peter 1:20–21, we are reminded that Christ was foreknown before the foundation of the world and revealed in these last days for our sake. Long before creation, long before our birth, the redeeming work of Christ was already established in the perfect plan of God. As we examine God’s foreknowledge and sovereign rule, we are reminded that He is God and we are not. Yet this truth is not meant to trouble us—it is meant to comfort us. Because the God who planned our salvation from eternity past is the same God who walks with us through suffering, hears our prayers, and holds our future. His sovereignty gives us comfort in our suffering, confidence in our prayers, contentment in our waiting, and clarity in our uncertainty. Nothing about our lives is outside His knowledge or beyond His care. The Sovereign King is holy, good, just, and merciful—and He can be trusted with all things. Join me as we consider the sovereign grace of God and the foreknown work of Christ. Let’s dig in and look to Jesus, our true hope!
