Kyle O’Quin is a Grammy-Award winning musician, most known for his longtime role as a songwriter and keyboard player for the rock band Portugal. The Man. A wildly talented multi-instrumentalist, Kyle toured extensively with the band for years, playing thousands of shows in countries all over the world, and collaborating with some of the biggest names in music, including Mike D, Paul Williams, Danger Mouse, Jeff Bhasker, Mac Miller, and more. Having taken a big step back from touring with the band this year, Kyle has been diving head first into composing film scores for the past few months, and in this conversation we get into what that experience has been like and what has attracted him to the new challenge. We also dive into Kyle’s deep value for craft and excellence and how that played out for him growing up around the budding Seattle specialty coffee scene of the mid 2000s. Matt Lounsbury is the President of Proud Mary Coffee USA, one of the most exciting and significant global specialty coffee brands to emerge in the past few decades. A longtime resident of Portland, OR, Matt has been an influential figure in the local food & beverage scene since the early 2000s - most known for his role as the VP of Stumptown Coffee Roasters up until 2017, where he helped the company go from a relatively small, well-loved local coffee roaster to one of the most recognizable and impactful coffee companies in the US, with landmark cafés in major cities all across the country. As the Global Head of Brand for Proud Mary, Matt continues to oversee the operations of PMC’s cafés and roasteries in Austin and Portland, and helps Proud Mary continue to cement themselves as one of the standout “gold-standards” for incredible hospitality and uncompromising excellence in coffee today.
