Social Media, Parenting, and the Pitfalls of a Technological Age

In an age where technology, hyper-stimulation, and the pressures to fit in continue to overwhelm parents and kids alike, Nate & Mike discuss some considerations to have so that our engagement with the world around us is viewed through more than a screen. In this episode the guys dive into the challenges of parenthood in a digitally saturated world, with Mike bringing some of his own philosophies and boundaries with his kids to the conversation. Reflecting on both of their time in youth ministry and student mentorship, Nate and Mike also discuss the rise in abuse, self-harm, and human-trafficking that is driven higher in the age of the internet. Technology can be a tool with great benefits, but this episode centers on the pitfalls and pains brought on by the current climate and culture in a social media crazed world. Join us for this week's episode and let us know how you tackle the ups and downs of a media filled culture. Wonderfully Unhinged - Spiritual Busywork & Truth Over Tradition

If you find yourself yearning for greater depth in your relationship with God and other believers but always seem to be too depleted to add anything else to your schedule, you may be suffering from the aftermath of spiritual busywork. In this week's episode, Mike and Nate discuss how revival is stirring outside of the church in America and what that should mean for those of us who are currently involved in our local churches. Too often Western Church culture attempts to spread its reach wide without considering what that means for our souls if we don't establish a culture of depth first. If the traditions of church, Wednesday night gatherings, and every well intentioned yet misguided outreach attempt are filling our calendars in a way that doesn't allow for us to grow in maturity first, then we will miss greater opportunities to participate in the revival that is happening around us. If our calendars remain so full of commitments about God but deprive us of being with him, we will find ourselves lacking in truth and an intimate awareness of scripture while elevating the continued adaptation of tradition. Although tradition and the local church are not the enemy, if we continue to allow the church to force feed new believers activity over invitation into maturity, the Western Evangelical Church is destined to only sink further into depravity and a lack of ability to meet new believers in the midst of their deepest questions. Tradition is not synonymous with biblical truth! Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
