James Mac Inerney is a professional make up artist. In this episode, James shares his career journey to date - from not really knowing what he wanted to do after sixth year, to working on Channel 4's This Way Up (written by/starring his cousin Aisling Bea), working on the Netflix feature film Rebecca, competing on BBC's Glow Up and collaborating with MAC Cosmetics. James shares some brilliant stories about how he landed some of these amazing jobs. He also tells us how drag has helped him to express himself, explore his identity and develop his makeup style and skills. James provides great tips for aspiring makeup artists on how they can develop their skills and get experience while still in school. He also gives great advice to final year students who may be struggling to figure out their next step. Colm Smith is the head strength and conditioning coach and sport scientist with The West Ham women’s first team. In this episode, Colm talks about his time at secondary school where he had a passion for sport but struggled academically. We chat about the route Colm took to get into the area of strength and conditioning and why he decided to move to London after completing his undergrad in Health and Physical Activity at Dundalk IT. Colm shares his experience of balancing a four years masters degree in strength and conditioning while working part time with a range of sports clubs such as London Gaa, Harlequins Rugby Club and Chelsea Football Club. Finally, Colm offers super advice to Leaving Cert students who want to get into the area of strength and conditioning. He also offers really helpful advice to students who don’t know what they’d like to do after sixth year. A big thanks to Colm for being so open and honest throughout our chat, particularly in relation to his struggles with academics at school and the importance of finding courses at both undergrad and masters level that suited him and his style of learning. Alan O'Mara has had a really interesting and varied career path. In this episode, we chat about his roles to date - from being promoted to Sports Editor at a Cavan newspaper at only 17, to working as the National Social Media Manager with the GAA, to setting up his own company Real Talks in 2016. We also touch on his time playing football for Cavan and his experience with depression. Lauren Guilfoyle has many strings to her bow. She is a chartered physiotherapist who has worked with both the Tipperary Senior Camogie Team and the Tipperary Minor Hurling Team in recent years. Lauren also works as a broadcaster and presenter with various media outlets and works as the Social Media Coordinator with the Camogie Association. In this episode, Lauren chats about her career path in physiotherapy and gives great insights into the different physiotherapy roles she has held to date. We also talk about why she decided to dip her toe into the world of media. In this episode I chat with Fintan White - an organic farmer, agricultural consultant and entrepreneur. We chat about Fintan's uncertainty around what he wanted to do post Leaving Cert, his interest and studies in sustainable agriculture and his decision to go organic with his farm. We also talk about how he financed his masters by caddying in the US on a J1 and how it took living away from home for a while to realise that home in Kilkenny was exactly where he wanted to return to start his career in farming.
