In this episode Casey and Erin discuss how discuss how addiction has impacted their lives in different ways. They touch upon a course in miracles lesson seven, I see only the past. This idea is particularly difficult to believe at first. Yet it is the rationale for all of the preceding ones. It is the reason why nothing that you see means anything. It is the reason why you have given everything you see all the meaning that it has for you. It is the reason why you do not understand anything you see. It is the reason why your thoughts do not mean anything, and why they are like the things you see. It is the reason why you are never upset for the reason you think. It is the reason why you are upset because you see something that is not there. LESSON 3. I do not understand anything I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place]. This initial work starts to set the foundation for uprooting belief systems that may not serve us. They recommend not practicing longer than a minute or two at a time, and only practicing this technique two times a day. LESSON 4. These thoughts do not mean anything. They are like the things I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place]. Here we start to detach from our associations with different thoughts, and start to gain a sense of freedom and independence from our minds. You will find, if you train yourself to look at your thoughts, that they represent such a mixture that, in a sense, none of them can be called “good” or “bad.” This is why they do not mean anything. LESSON 5. I am never upset for the reason I think. This idea, like the preceding one, can be used with any person, situation or event you think is causing you pain. Apply it specifically to whatever you believe is the cause of your upset, using the description of the feeling in whatever term seems accurate to you. This lesson is similar to the effects of the judge your neighbor exercise by Byron Katie, and one of my personal worksheets about recognizing who is causing your pain. It is never anything outside of us that creates that vibration, it is always us. The more we can acknowledge that the more power we have to change it. Check out our Facebook page inspired journeys!

LESSON ONE: Nothing I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place] means anything. Imagine if all of the years of trauma, emotional suffering, shock, faulty beliefs, and just overall baggage we carry with us was eliminated. That’s what this first lesson reminds me of. If we could clean our lens – so squeaky clean that when we looked out and everything was new, we would look at the world with fascination and curiosity. There is a book called “My Stroke of Insight” by Jill Bolte Taylor. In this book, a neuroscientist experiences a stroke in which her discriminative faculties are washed away. She talks about the miracles that happen during that time of mind liberation. Each of the first three lessons should not be done more than twice a day, each – preferably morning and evening. Nor should they be attempted for more than a minute or so, unless that entails a sense of hurry. A comfortable sense of leisure is essential. LESSON 2: I have given everything I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place] all the meaning that it has for me is the second lesson in A Course in Miracles. I love this lesson because it requires us to take full accountability for our thoughts, beliefs, and not only that but the question them as well. I have had so many unaddressed and unquestioned belief systems that cause me to suffer. I used to think I had to apply rules and regulations to myself but it just kept me in a box and made me feel tense and suffer. The illusion was that this would keep me in line, but in reality, it caused me to rebel, left me feeling exhausted, and nothing was ever good enough.

How to deal with negative people How to deal with negative people, and then how to draw the right, positive kind of people toward you. How to deal with negative people: don’t get sucked into their story. Create healthy boundaries Take full accountability for our own emotions and let them do the same with theirs. Erin worked at a school that started to become corrupt and stop paying its’ teachers. You could actually FEEL the stress. It was insane. Even keeping a positive attitude was very challenging because of the non-payment and also watching everyone else suffer. It was one of the most challenging times of my life. The day I walked into that building and I dropped to my knees from the negativity, was the day I left. The Secret and manifestation “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne When we are actively co-creating we will create a vibration inside of us that will attract the same. If we choose to create a vibration of compassion, fascination and curiosity, we will invite that kind of playfulness into our lives and as a result we will start to be surrounded by people like that. There is a transition though, when we are shutting off old relationships. Relationships come and go and serve us at certain points in our lives, but sometimes we get attached to what we think they should be and we hang on too long. With this process of manifestation we will learn to start shutting off the people and concepts that do not serve us any longer. When our vibration starts changing to a higher, more positive vibration, we start to attract the same. It’s the law of similar.
