Garrick Season Has Arrived - KZN REPORT (11 JUNE '26)

The coastline is firmly in garrick mode, with baitfish thick in the surf and predators feeding throughout the day. Shad remain productive in certain areas, with good quality fish coming out, while kob numbers are steadily building — especially around tide changes and low-light periods. On the rocks, spring tides have opened deeper ledges, producing rockcod, kob, and bronze bream. Water conditions have improved, resulting in more consistent fishing sessions. The north coast is firing with regular kob, shad, and increasing garrick activity, especially at sunrise and sunset. The central coast remains patchy due to recent rough seas but still offers shad, grunter, and shark action. Further south, fishing is quieter but building nicely, with early signs pointing toward a strong winter and possible sardine run. Bottom fishing is producing quality geelbek and daga salmon, while amberjack are keeping things exciting during full moon periods. The north coast is particularly active, with snoek showing in good size and numbers, along with the odd couta. Durban continues to deliver steady snoek action, while down south requires careful weather timing, though fish are still being caught. Cold conditions have settled over the Midlands, with snowfall in higher areas and dropping water temperatures improving stillwater fishing. #FishingPodcast #SAFishing #SouthAfricaFishing #SurfFishing #RockFishing #Garrick #Shad #Kob #Snoek #Geelbek #DagaSalmon #Amberjack #Couta #FishingReport #FishingUpdates #FishingLife #AnglerLife #FishingAddict #CoastalFishing #RockAndSurf #OffshoreFishing #DeepSeaFishing #TightLines #FishingSeason #WinterFishing #SardineRun #NorthCoast #DurbanFishing #KZNFishing #SaltwaterFishing #FishingConditions #OceanLife #Baitfish #PredatorFishing #CatchOfTheDay #FishingCommunity #FishingTips #vineshsoogreem Vinesh's website [https://anglernews.co.za/]

Full Moon Brings The Fish - KZN REPORT (4 JUNE '26)

The KZN coastline has settled into a classic winter rhythm, with anglers enjoying steady action across all regions. Along the North Coast, rock and surf anglers are finding good numbers of shad and kob, particularly around structure and deeper access points during the spring tides, while garrick have become a familiar appearance throughout the week. Durban’s central coastline has been slightly inconsistent due to patches of dirty water, but anglers putting in the hours are still being rewarded with shad, stumpnose and grey sharks, with spinner sharks also becoming more active. Further South, fishing has been quieter overall, although Uvongo Pier continues to shine with catches on both live bait and lures, while grey sharks and rockcod remain active. Offshore, winter has switched the fishing into top gear with the North Coast leading the charge as snoek, couta and quality bottom species dominate catches. Durban has also produced excellent offshore action with solid snoek runs and nonstop bottom fishing, while the South Coast has rewarded patient anglers who timed the weather windows correctly with quality fish and exciting winter species moving in. Freshwater anglers are also starting to feel winter settle properly across the KZN Midlands, although temperatures remain milder than expected ahead of the June 21 Winter Solstice. The trout rivers are now officially closed until September for spawning season, but yellowfish enthusiasts are enjoying productive sessions on clear moving water. Meanwhile, anglers travelling through the Midlands are urged to remain mindful of strict Foot and Mouth Disease biosecurity measures currently in place, including mandatory vehicle spray stations in the Kamberg and Giant’s Castle areas. #KZNFishing #KZNCoastline #WinterFishing #FishingReport #SouthAfricaFishing #DurbanFishing #NorthCoastFishing #SouthCoastFishing #RockAndSurf #OffshoreFishing #ShadFishing #KobFishing #Garrick #GreySharks #SpinnerSharks #Snoek #Couta #BottomFishing #UvongoPier #Rockcod #SaltwaterFishing #FreshwaterFishing #MidlandsFishing #Yellowfish #TroutSeason #CatchOfTheDay #FishingLife #AnglingCommunity #FishingAdventure #OceanVibes #vineshsoogreem Vinesh's website [https://anglernews.co.za/]

Pre-Run Big Fish Action - - KZN REPORT (28 MAY '26)

Winter conditions are starting to settle across KZN, with a steady improvement in fishing along the coast and inland. Rock and Surf Shad have arrived in good numbers and are providing consistent action along the coastline. Garrick are starting to show, with occasional catches reported. Anglers focusing on structure and tides are seeing the best results, with species like kob, rockcod and bronze bream also being caught. The north coast continues to produce kingfish and mixed bags, while the south coast—especially Uvongo Pier—has delivered good GT catches and increased grey shark activity. Offshore Offshore fishing has slowed slightly, but bottom fishing remains productive with geelbek and daga salmon. The north coast is leading with consistent snoek and the odd dorado, while Durban has produced steady catches. Further south, conditions have been challenging, but anglers fishing favourable weather windows are still finding success. Freshwater Cold Midlands mornings have signalled the start of the stillwater season, with trout catches improving. Fish in the 28–38cm range are being reported, with larger specimens also coming out. River fishing has slowed post-spawn, while bass fishing remains tough and requires slower presentations in deeper water. #KZNFishing #KwaZuluNatal #FishingReport #WinterFishing #RockAndSurf #OffshoreFishing #FreshwaterFishing #SouthAfricaFishing #FishingSA #ShadSeason #Garrick #Kingfish #GTFishing #GreyShark #Kob #Rockcod #BronzeBream #Dorado #Snoek #Geelbek #DagaSalmon #TroutFishing #BassFishing #MidlandsFishing #UvongoPier #NorthCoastFishing #SouthCoastFishing #FishingConditions #AnglingLife #TightLines #ansapodcast #vineshsoogreem Vinesh's website [https://anglernews.co.za/]

Shad Explosion In KZN - KZN REPORT (21 MAY '26)

The KZN coastline has shown a noticeable lift in activity over the past week, with winter conditions settling in and bringing solid fishing along the surf. Shad are the standout, with good numbers being caught along much of the coast, while the first signs of garrick are starting to appear. Anglers putting in the effort are also finding a mix of rockcod, kob, bronze bream, and occasional kingfish. Conditions have varied along the central coast with some dirty water, but there are still fish around, while the South Coast—particularly areas like Uvongo—has produced consistent action including GTs and rock species. Offshore, fishing has improved steadily, with geelbek, daga salmon, and snoek featuring in catches, especially further north where deeper water has held better fish. Durban has remained fairly reliable, while further south anglers have had to work harder around changing conditions. Inland, cooler temperatures have boosted stillwater trout fishing with good results reported, while river fishing is slowing as the season draws to a close. Yellowfish are still active in some systems, and although bass fishing has been quieter, a few fish are still being caught. Overall, conditions are improving, with plenty of opportunity for anglers as the weekend shows perfect weather conditions to keep those rods bending. #KZNFishing #KZNCoast #SurfFishing #SaltwaterFishing #FishingSouthAfrica #ShadSeason #Garrick #KobFishing #Rockcod #BronzeBream #Kingfish #GTFishing #OffshoreFishing #DeepSeaFishing #Snoek #Geelbek #DagaSalmon #DurbanFishing #SouthCoastFishing #Uvongo #FishingReport #FishingLife #AnglersLife #WeekendFishing #CatchAndRelease #FishingAdventure #TightLines #FishingConditions #TroutFishing #Yellowfish #BassFishing #FreshwaterFishing #FishingCommunity #SAFishing #OceanLife #RodBending #GetOutdoors Vinesh's website [https://anglernews.co.za/]

Big Fish Are In With Shad - KZN REPORT (14 MAY '26)

The KZN coastline has come alive with the arrival of winter species, bringing strong rock and surf action across the board. Anglers targeting shad, rockcod, kob, and bronze bream have been rewarded for reading conditions and putting in the effort, with fish feeding more aggressively as the seasonal shift takes hold. The North Coast continues to produce consistent catches, including kingfish, while the central areas remain patchy but still productive for those willing to work for results. Down south, Uvongo Pier has stood out with impressive GT catches, along with ever-present grey sharks and excellent rock fishing on baits like prawn, chokka, and red prawn. Offshore, despite tough weather, committed anglers found success with geelbek, daga salmon, and snoek dominating catches, particularly off the North Coast, while Durban and southern areas required more patience but still delivered for those who timed their outings well. Inland, the Midlands has shifted fully into winter mode, with cooler, more stable conditions beginning to improve fishing prospects. While trout rivers have been quiet ahead of the seasonal closure, stillwaters are showing encouraging signs as fish start feeding more actively. With the winter event season now underway and water temperatures dropping, the coming weeks should see steadily improving action for prepared anglers. #KZNFishing #KZNCoast #RockAndSurf #SurfFishing #RockFishing #WinterFishing #ShadSeason #KobFishing #Rockcod #BronzeBream #Kingfish #GTFishing #GreySharks #UvongoPier #DurbanFishing #NorthCoastFishing #SouthCoastFishing #OffshoreFishing #Geelbek #DagaSalmon #Snoek #FishingLife #SaltwaterFishing #AnglingLife #CatchOfTheDay #FishingSouthAfrica #MidlandsFishing #TroutFishing #WinterAngling #SAFishing #vineshsoogreem #ansapodcast Vinesh's website [https://anglernews.co.za/]
