🎉 Episode 52 | One Year of Dad Jokes and Discernment | Reflecting on God's Faithfulness

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2519360/fan_mail/new] One year. 52 episodes. Countless conversations about faith, Scripture, discipleship, and seeing everyday life through a biblical lens. In this special anniversary episode of Dad Jokes and Discernment, we take a look back at the first year of this Christian podcast — how it started, what God has taught us, the episodes that challenged us, and where we believe He is leading us next. This isn't a typical Bible study episode. It's two friends sitting down for an honest conversation about ministry, growth, struggles, victories, and the faithfulness of God. In this episode, we discuss: ✅ How Dad Jokes and Discernment began as a simple conversation about faith ✅ What we learned from one year of creating a Christian podcast ✅ Our favorite episodes and the moments that impacted us personally ✅ The importance of discipleship, biblical truth, and staying grounded in God's Word ✅ Future plans, upcoming guests, and what year two may bring When we started this podcast, we didn't have a huge platform, a perfect plan, or all the answers. We simply wanted to create a place where people could hear the Gospel, discuss difficult topics through a biblical worldview, and be encouraged in their walk with Christ. After one year, one thing is clear: God has been faithful. Every conversation, every listener, every message, and every opportunity to share Jesus has been because of Him. Thank you to everyone who has listened, shared, prayed, encouraged us, and joined us on this journey. Here's to year two. More Jesus. More discipleship. More conversations that point back to God's Word.

Episode 51: Three Steps to Seeing the Creator: DNA, Design & Jesus

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2519360/fan_mail/new] In this episode of Dad Jokes and Discernment, we take a direct look at the question: Is there evidence for God? Rather than relying on emotion or tradition alone, we walk through what many believers point to as observable evidence of a Creator—from the complexity of the human body and DNA, to the design seen in nature, ecosystems, and even the structure of life itself. We also explore how biblical prophecy, particularly Messianic prophecy, connects across centuries of Scripture and points to Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. This episode is not about forcing belief—it’s about asking honest questions: *  Could complex biological systems like DNA arise without intelligence?  *  What does the design of the human eye and brain suggest?  *  Do ecosystems and natural laws point toward intentional order?  *  How do Old Testament prophecies align with the life of Jesus?  Whether you are a believer, a skeptic, or somewhere in between, this conversation is meant to challenge assumptions and invite reflection on the possibility of a Creator behind creation.

Episode 50: Nehemiah: When God Gives You a Burden Bigger Than Your Ability | Faith, Calling, and Opposition

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2519360/fan_mail/new] In this episode of Dad Jokes and Discernment, we dive into the book of Nehemiah and explore what it means when God places a burden on your heart that feels bigger than your ability. Through Nehemiah’s story, we walk through the full journey of calling and obedience—how a burden is born, how prayer responds to it, and how God opens doors that we could never open on our own. We also discuss the real-life tension many believers face today: *  How do you know if a burden is from God or personal ambition?  *  Why does fear often show up right before obedience?  *  What happens when you step into God’s calling and immediately face opposition?  *  How do distractions, discouragement, and ridicule try to pull you off mission?  From Nehemiah’s position as cupbearer in the Persian palace, to his grief over Jerusalem’s broken walls, to his bold request before the king, we break down how God equips ordinary people for extraordinary assignments. This conversation also connects Scripture to everyday life—ministry, family, work, and the spiritual battles modern believers face when trying to stay faithful in a distracted world. If you’ve ever felt unqualified, overwhelmed, or unsure whether God is really calling you into something, this episode will encourage you to trust the process:  burden → prayer → opportunity → opposition → obedience.

Episode 49: Will Anybody Stand? | Ezekiel 22, Joshua 1, and Christ in the Gap

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2519360/fan_mail/new] In Ezekiel 22:30, God says something sobering: He searched for a man to stand in the gap—and found none. In this episode, we wrestle with that reality and what it reveals about human fear, spiritual responsibility, and our tendency to stay silent when we should stand. We move from Ezekiel’s burden to Joshua 1, where leadership begins in uncertainty and fear, but is met with God’s repeated call to courage and His promise of presence. Joshua shows us what it looks like to step forward when everything feels too heavy. But ultimately, Joshua is not the answer—Jesus is. On the cross, Christ became the One who truly stood in the gap between a holy God and sinful humanity. Where no man was found, God sent His Son. This episode is a call to honest reflection, biblical courage, and above all, a reminder that we don’t stand in our own strength—we stand because Christ first stood for us. Episode 48: Pride Month Exposed: The Sin the Bible Says Destroys Everyone

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2519360/fan_mail/new] June is often associated with “Pride Month,” but in this episode of Dad Jokes and Discernment, we take a different approach—turning the conversation toward what Scripture actually says about pride itself. This isn’t a conversation about elevating one group over another; it’s a biblical look at pride as a sin that shows up in every human heart. From Isaiah 14 and the fall of Lucifer, to the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector in Luke 18, to Paul’s teaching in Romans 1 and Titus 3:5, we trace how pride exalts self, resists repentance, and blinds us to our need for a Savior. But the story doesn’t stop at the problem. Philippians 2:5–11 shows the answer—Jesus Christ, who humbled Himself, became obedient unto death, and is now exalted above every name. The cure for pride is not self-improvement, but Christ-exaltation and gospel humility. In this episode we talk about: *  The origin of pride and its connection to rebellion against God  *  How pride blocks repentance and self-awareness  *  How culture and even religion can normalize sin  *  Why salvation is “not by works of righteousness which we have done” (Titus 3:5)  *  The humility of Christ in contrast to the pride of man (Philippians 2:5–11)  Whether you’re skeptical, curious, or a believer needing a heart check, this episode calls for honest self-examination before God. 📖 Scripture References: Isaiah 14:12–15, Luke 18:9–14, Romans 1:28–32, Titus 3:4–7, Philippians 2:5–11
