In The Mandalorian Chapter 16, “The Rescue,” Mando leads a daring assault on Moff Gideon’s cruiser to save Grogu, teaming up with Bo-Katan, Cara Dune, Fennec Shand, and Koska Reeves. After an intense showdown, Mando defeats Gideon in combat—accidentally winning the Darksaber and Bo-Katan’s side-eye in the process. Just as things look dire with Dark Troopers closing in, the Luke Skywalker arrives to mow them down like it’s 1983 again. The episode ends with a tearful goodbye as Mando removes his helmet so Grogu can see his face, giving Star Wars fans everywhere a collective emotional meltdown.
