I dove into drugs and drinking as a way to numb, and tried to disconnect from my family. My mother, in her infinite wisdom, while also dealing with the loss of my father, her own grief, and single parenting 3 teens, pulled me back from the brink and set me up on a healing path that took me to places neither of us could have predicted. The way she mothered me through that time was a catalyst for how I parented my own daughter, who has struggled with EDs, anxiety, depression, self-harm and OCPD.  (Trigger warning, these topics are loosely discussed in this episode).
