Kim Hoey Stevenson, Former Vice President of the Sussex County Planning Commission and of the Milford Planning Commission discusses Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission and ways that a citizen might become a Commissioner, terms of appointment, and compensation. She talks about the scope of the job and processes surrounding decisions on P&Z issues that affect all conty residents.

This episode demystifies Sussex County government and helps listeners determine how they can make their voices count in government decisions. SPC President Jane Gruenebaum interviews Vice President Jill Hicks, whose own activism has led her to delve into the structures of government and determine easy ways to interact with decision makers.

Episode 3. Chip Smith, formerly responsible for overseeing the Army Corps of Engineers and its key initiatives in environmental restoration and protection, as well as a current member of the Bethany Landowners Board, elaborates on the ways in which trees enhance life for us as individuals and how they make communities in Sussex more livable. He discusses ecosystems and also stresses the value of mature trees, which are lost whenever clearcutting takes place.
