Your First 10 Sales Calls: How to Not Panic

YOUR FIRST 10 SALES CALLS: HOW TO NOT PANIC Episode Summary + Show Notes If your stomach flips the moment you see “Call scheduled” on your calendar… welcome. That’s normal. In this episode, we’re talking about how to get through your first 10 sales calls without spiraling, and how to use them as practice reps that make you better fast. TWO REASONS YOU’RE ON A SALES CALL (AND WHY THIS MATTERS) Before you even pick up the phone, get clear on what kind of call you’re having because the goal changes everything. 1) Prospecting / Discovery (Ideal Customer Persona calls) This is about learning, not pitching. 1. Goal: Understand their needs, pain points, and what they actually want. 2. Approach: Ask open ended questions. Stay curious. Listen more than you talk. 3. Outcome: You walk away with insight you can use to shape your offer, your messaging, and your next steps. 2) Selling (moving someone forward / closing) This is about helping them decide. 1. Goal: Close, or move them to the next step (demo, follow up, proposal, etc.). 2. Approach: Connect their needs to your solution and make the value clear. 3. Outcome: A decision and a next step ideally with a date on the calendar. WHAT WE COVERED IN THE EPISODE 1) NERVES ARE NORMAL (PREP IS YOUR CHEAT CODE) A little preparation goes a long way. Even 5–10 minutes before a call reviewing who you’re calling, scanning notes, setting one clear goal can calm your brain and help you show up confident. Also: you’re going to make mistakes. That’s part of the first ten. The win is getting back on track quickly and treating every call like a rep. 2) THE POST-CALL REVIEW IS WHERE YOU LEVEL UP Right after the call, take a minute to: 1. write down follow-ups 2. note what worked 3. note what felt off That quick reflection builds your skill way faster than trying to “remember later.” And if you stumble mid-call? Just keep going. Most people don’t care nearly as much as you think they do. 3) SELLING IS SHARING WHAT YOU GENUINELY BELIEVE Selling isn’t “convincing someone.” It’s saying, “I believe this can help you,” and backing it up with how and why. We talked about trusting your natural communication style (Jack Spirko’s angle) and also leaning on simple frameworks to stay grounded, handle objections, and keep the call focused on value. MY TOP 10 TIPS FOR YOUR FIRST 10 SALES CALLS 1. Do a quick prep (5–10 minutes): who they are, why you’re calling, what success looks like. 2. Use a simple outline: a few bullets > a perfect script. 3. Listen more than you talk: ask open ended questions and stay curious. 4. Expect nerves: nerves don’t mean you’re bad just new. 5. Recover gracefully: if you stumble, acknowledge it and keep moving. 6. Review and reflect: quick notes right after the call = huge improvement over time. 7. Keep it conversational: you’re talking to a human, not “a lead.” 8. Stay focused on value: you’re there to help solve a problem. 9. Learn from feedback (even a “no”): find the reason, take the lesson, move on. 10. Stay positive + persistent: every call makes the next one easier. Q&A (QUICK COACHING MOMENTS) Q: What can I do right away to feel more confident before I pick up the phone? 1. Run practice/mock calls with someone (even a friend). 2. Have two outlines ready: one for discovery questions and one for sales/next-step questions. 3. Don’t rewrite your script every call—do several first so you have a baseline of what’s actually working. Q: What if someone hits me with a tough question or objection I’m not ready for? 1. Pause. Silence is your friend. Clarify the question. 2. If it’s pricing/value, bring it back to outcomes and what your offer solves. 3. If it’s something super specific, it’s okay to say: “Great question—let me confirm that and follow up,” or connect them with the right person. Q: How do I know when it’s time to ask for the sale or move to the next step? 1. When you’ve made the value clear and you’re seeing engagement good questions, agreement, forward energy. If you’ve built rapport and handled the big concerns, you’ve earned the right to transition. 2. Also: after you ask, give them space. That 8–10 seconds of silence feels long, but it’s powerful. Let them respond first. If they raise another objection, handle it calmly… then ask again. https://www.youtube.com/@THEMULTIVERSEOFBUSINESS https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61584688353284 https://www.instagram.com/the_multiverse_of_business/

Honest Beginnings - Comeback Underdog Story

In this kickoff episode, Jack and Chuck introduce themselves and share the real world experiences that brought them here. From running a chocolate shop with online and event sales, trying a construction side hustle, streaming on Twitch, and building skateboards to years of combined experience in retail management, supply chain, logistics, 3D printing, farming, auto detailing, and launching private label products we’ve tried a lot, learned a lot, and we’re still building. We created this podcast because we love talking business ideas and breaking down what’s going on in our own projects. When we started, there weren’t many honest resources out there, so this show is our way of documenting the journey to our first million while helping others along the way. What you’ll get: Practical ideas, honest advice, beginner friendly breakdowns, and what we would do in different business situations. No guru hype, just real experiences from two people actively building. This podcast is for: Aspiring entrepreneurs, anyone looking for extra income, small business owners, and people who want real stories instead of jargon and scams. Our promise: No B.S. Just real people building real businesses and sharing what works and what definitely doesn’t. What’s coming next: In Episode 1, How do you know whether you should be an entrepreneur, start a side hustle, stick with a traditional job, or focus on investing? and a few ideas to get you started. https://www.youtube.com/@THEMULTIVERSEOFBUSINESS https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61584688353284 https://www.instagram.com/the_multiverse_of_business/
