Christina and Julian discuss the early days of Pagan gatherings and how they found their ways into various occult societies. They talk about the satanic abuse panic of the early 90's and how it has effected them personally as well as the wider community. Julian Vayne is an occultist and author of numerous books, essays, journals and articles in both the academic and esoteric press. A regular speaker at events, and facilitator of retreats and workshops, his work is informed by chaos magic and lineages within Wicca and Tantra. Julian is a co-organizer of the psychedelic conference Breaking Convention, and sits on the academic board of The Journal of Psychedelic Studies.
Christina and Gary talk about his new book The Return of Holy Russia. They explore the role of art, symbols and politics in the evolution of religion and the occult. Gary Lachman is the author of many books on the links between consciousness, culture, and the Western esoteric tradition, including Dark Star Rising: Magick and Power in the Age of Trump, Lost Knowledge of the Imagination, Beyond the Robot: The Life and Work of Colin Wilson, and The Secret Teachers of the Western World. In a former life he was a founding member of the pop group Blondie and in 2006 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is an adjunct professor of Transformative Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies.
