013: The Traitor: 3548 BCE

40 years have passed since the raiding party burned Brynhass to the ground. The women and children captured by raiders had since assimilated to Kurhass. However, even with the death of the violent chief Ledu, the path of destruction continued after Ledu’s son claimed the title of Chief. Kurhass was now a village that raided their neighbors and killed without mercy. Every time they raided another settlement, they stole their animals and took their children and women. As Kurhass became more violent, no other village would trade with them, forcing Kurhass to become more aggressive. In this story we follow the life of Chess’ youngest, and only surviving son, Flint, who was born in Brynhass but grew up in the violent ways of Kurhass. Even though he was a member of the tribe, he still had memories of growing up in a peaceful village, that no longer existed. Every incident has an antecedent, and every individual has an ancestor. 64 years have passed since Tia married the man from Brynhass village and moved away from her family in Kurhass. Life in Brynhass was pleasant, with lots of sheep and horses and cows. Brynhass village was built along a series of small streams, and the rocks in the area were rich with copper. Despite being long time trading partners with the villages around them, Kurhass grew more isolated and eventually trade between the two villages ended completely. While living in Brynhass, Tia had 8 children, all of who survived. In this story we follow the life of her youngest daughter chess, who was all grown up and had ten children of her own. 6 years have passed since Luddy was killed by the bear. Because of his sacrifice the hunters were able to hunt enough meat to get the village through the grain famine. Over the years, Kurhass village diversified its reliance on any one type of food. They increased hunting, and fishing, and even bred more sheep. In this story we follow the life of Luddy’s youngest daughter, Bloom. She was only six years old when her father died, and now she spends all her time in the stables with the sheep. 47 years have passed since Shay said good bye to her daughter. She moved to her husband’s village and never returned. Since that time a series of early spring droughts shattered the ability to harvest enough food for the winter. To prevent a famine, the villagers have concentrated their efforts on fishing and hunting to make up for the poor harvests.
