#11 - Billy Breaks His Neck but God Brings Him Back

My Cousin Billy suffered a paralyzing spinal injury his senior year of high school that derailed his wrestling career and put his focus on recovering and being able to walk again. Leaning on his faith in God and relying on his miraculous healing to bring him a speedy recovery and new perspective on life. He now has graduated college and has used his tragedy to encourage others who find themselves in similar tragedies.

In this episode I sat down with my Mother-in-law, Alayna, to hear about her life changing diagnosis and miraculous journey to living for 2 and a half decades with leukemia at bay thanks to a trial medicine. She received 6 months to live with three young children and thanks to recommendations found her way to MD Anderson in Houston at just the right time to get on a trial med that kept her leukemia at bay and allowed her to live a normal life. In this episode I sat down with a childhood friend and fifth grade girlfriend, Nicole, as she details her lifelong battle and recent conquering of an eating disorder. Her condition cause turmoil in her family but ultimately a small shift in mindset around training turned it around.
