The memories of a building belong to the people who bring it to life. Over the past year, we’ve been asking the students, staff and faculty of today and yesterday to share their memories of our beloved west-end campus before it is time to say goodbye.

We sat down with two staff members from kihêw waciston, MacEwan University’s Indigenous Education Centre, to learn about smudging: a ceremony that acts as a grounding moment of self-reflection, a connection to family and culture and a way for our Indigenous students to feel at home.

When you think about academic research, an art installation may not immediately come to mind. But research is much more than just science labs and hard data. Research is about taking what you’ve learned, thinking deeply about it and synthesizing something new. And the best research does what art aspires to do: it tells a story.

At MacEwan University, we’re building a culture of consent. Our goal is to end sexual violence on campus. In this episode, we meet a new face on campus who will play a key role in helping to realize this goal.

How exactly does a student from somewhere thousands of miles away find their way to MacEwan? We sat down with one of our international recruiters to find out.
