The Language of The Nervous System w/ Jennifer Carmack

This episode is from a talk Jennifer gave at The Movement Apothecary March 26, 2023. In this lecture, Jennifer explains "the walking, talking nervous system" and how it is sensing out safety and belonging. We talk about charge in the nervous system, and how it moves like a wave. As we activate we are sensing what we need. By taking action to move towards or move away, expressing ourselves, setting boundaries etc we are meeting a need that creates safety in our system. Overwhelm is too much, too fast and how fight, flight, freeze, collapse, fawn are part of this wave and how we can sense safety by acknowledging our needs and begin to sense how it creates a down regulation in our bodies.

He has got this way of creating that inspires me just to let the work come thru my hands, not to judge and not to get hung up on what people think or notice about your work. Garry is a stone mason, one of the oldest forms of artistry. He takes large pieces of stone and carves it by hand in his creations for peoples homes thru his business, High Mountain Relevators.
