Accept that you are not going to be perfect and then let God expose your sins and refine you. - God exposes our sin for us to get rid of, not to be ashamed of. - The refinement process takes multiple times through the fire. - Sometimes, we compromise on sin issues because we view them as a spectrum and not a yes or no issue. Some of the things we talk about: - If you find you have a hard time leaving the baggage, the trial you are in might be trying to expose that in your life. - Make sure when we remove something bad in your life, we don’t find another distraction to fill that void with. - The point of trials is to get closer to Jesus, not fix it without him. So keep our focus on Jesus. - Whenever you feel down about the trial you are in, remember who you are and what the purpose of trials is. - Don’t ask God to end the trial but what you need to learn through the trial. - Trials aren’t like running on a track. Some of the things we talk about: - Different versions say “pure joy” in verse 2. - Failing to understand the trial runs the risk of growing through the trial. - God has approved the trials you are in. - If you tap out too early, you don’t learn and grow in the areas God has intended for you. - You aren’t in the trials alone. The refiner is there watching over you. - In the trials, go to God for wisdom but remember to use the wisdom he’s giving you. - Davis mentioned three types of people but Adam has a fourth group.
