Giving God’s Spirit opportunities to speak to us through the text of Scripture is the heart of what we do in our Dive Studies. Here you will find a growing library of our recorded conversations about specific books of Scripture as well as some of our earlier Dive Studies. Come along with us as we take a slow and deliberate look at different books of the Bible and how each of them points us directly to Jesus as the complete and greatest expression of God’s love for us. You will also find our past seasons of The Recap Podcast, a weekly podcast that follows our Bible Reading Plan. On The Recap we discussed key takeaways during the week from our FREE Bible Reading Plan, which can be downloaded when you sign up for our newsletter!

The Recap: S3 - E46

We discuss the significance of the transport of the Arc of the Covenant and the death of Uzza. We talk about commodification in Amos, and God’s desire for us to remain, and keep our attention on Him and what He’s doing. We end the Recap talking about Hebrews 10:24-25 “Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, ad all the more, as you see the day drawing near.” We discuss the connection to what Paul says in 2 Timothy about avoiding people who “hold to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power.” As the day draws near, we will endure much suffering, and as we do, we will need one another who know God’s power and will encourage us on in the hardship of following Christ.

The Recap: S3 - E44

Leadership as idolatry and God’s response to idolaters in Hosea is to take them out to the wilderness and court them like a lover. Erin talks about her formation in leadership and identifies an area of idolatry in her life in the context of Hosea. Anneke and Erin discuss how to navigate relationships with Christians who hold to the form of godliness but deny its power. Paul permits us to avoid these people. We don’t need to be irreconciled, but we also don’t have to spend a lot of time with them. Anneke reminds Erin of the power of prayer to make a difference in people’s relationship with God. Anneke talks about self-control in Titus. Erin talks about the lack of acknowledgment of self in evangelical spirituality can be an obstacle to self-control. Finally, Philemon is discussed as an act of Allyship on Paul's part.
