EPS 09 // Scientific Approach

Pernah dengar tentang 'Pharmacogenomics'? Itu adalah bidang studi yang mempelajari bagaimana struktur genetika seseorang merespon suatu obat. Levana 'Levi' Sani adalah salah satu pendiri Nalagenetics, yaitu perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang kesehatan dan teknologi. Nalagenetics mempunyai misi untuk mengurangi efek 'adverse drug reactions' dari obat, dan menambahkan efisiensi dari obat berbasis resep. Levi membahas tentang betapa pentingnya untuk menggunakan metode ilmiah atau scientific method dalam Nalagenetics dan dalam hidup sehari-hari. Kita juga membahas tentang perjalanannya dalam menemukan passion, mentor serta cara mengatur relasi dengan seorang atasan.  Sebelum memulai Nalagenetics, Levi bekerja di Genome Institute of Singapore dan merupakan lulusan MBA dari Harvard Business School. Also, we highlight her journey of following a curiosity driven career, finding mentors, and managing your manager. EPS 08 // Built To Last

Arsitektur merupakan seni yang unik. Biasa identik dengan teknik di balik gedung-gedung tinggi. Tapi lebih dari itu, arsiteklah yang menjahit ide-ide dan mimpi menjadi sebuah pengalaman ruang. Di episode FML yang ke 8 ini, kita berbicara dengan WIllis Kusuma. Beliau merupakan pendiri dan Principal Architect dari Willis Kusuma Architects (WKA). Sebuah perusahaan arsitek dengan 15 orang yang telah mengukir dunia arsitektur di Indonesia. Beberapa contoh dari karyanya adalah Social House, Skye, Cikajang Mix House (Mr. Sunday). WKA mempunyai gaya yang mempersatukan modernitas dengan fungsi. Dekat, tak lekang waktu, dan bisa merubah cara hidup. Sebelum mendirikan WKA, Willis sempat bekerja di firma arsitek Amerika ternama, Richard Meier & Partners Architects di Los Angeles, California. Architects paint the big picture that helps to turn ideas and dreams into a spatial experience. In FML EPS 08, we had a conversation with Willis Kusuma. He is the founder and Principal Architect of Willis Kusuma Architects (WKA). It is a small firm of 15 people which has defined the Indonesian architectural milieu and beyond. Some of his most well known works are: Social House, Skye, Cikajang Mix House (Mr. Sunday). WKA has a distinctive style of ‘modernity-meets-functionality’. It is personal, timeless, and in Willis’ own words, “could change your way of life.” We talked about the Willis’ experience of running his own firm, asserting his creative voice, and the nature of architecture as a professional career. Di episode ini, kita ngobrol dengan Otniel Christofer, head roaster dan business development di KLTR Coffee, Jakarta. Otniel cerita tentang awal mula ia tertarik dengan dunia kopi, ke kerja sambilan, bahkan sampai menang kompetisi Tasters cup. Ia pun cerita tentang bagaimana ia mengelola cafenya sendiri dan gimana dia menyeimbangkan antara kepentingan banyak pihak, mulai dari pemegang saham sampai petani kopi itu sendiri. We chatted about Otniel's start at the coffee world, how he started being a barista, until winning the Tasters Cup championship. EPS 05 // The Lalita Project

Who says that you have to live a couple of decades before writing a book? Meet Abigail and Grace. They are two 20-somethings who just realized their passion project, The Lalita Project, an online community (@lalitaproject) and an illustrated book which highlights Indonesian women role models. The idea began when Abby and Grace had a conversation about role-models. And, soon they realized that there was no outlet that unites modern Indonesian women. Their curiosity and hard-work led them to meet and write the stories of 51 inspiring Indonesian women such as Najwa Shihab, Sri Mulyani, and the likes. Moreover, they collaborated with 51 different illustrators on illustrations used in each one of the figure’s story. The FML team had the chance to speak with Abby and Grace about their project. We talked about what this project means for them, and what they have learned throughout the journey. We are excited to share their story to you because what Abby and Grace exemplified is impactful. Despite their commitments as full-time college students, they managed to put in the efforts to create an online community and a book. One key takeaway from their story is that don’t be afraid to start, because you will learn everything in the process! (Produced by Praisten T)
