Episode Need to Know Audiobook by Karen Cleveland Cover

Need to Know Audiobook by Karen Cleveland

Listen to this audiobook in full for free on http://hotaudiobook.com [http://hotaudiobook.com] Title: Need to Know Author: Karen Cleveland Narrator: Mia Barron Format: Unabridged Length: 9 hrs and 39 mins Language: English Release date: 01-25-18 Publisher: Random House Audiobooks Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, International Mystery & Crime Publisher's Summary: Random House presents the audiobook edition of Need to Know by Karen Cleveland, read by Mia Barron. Perfect Husband. Perfect Father. Perfect Liar? Vivian Miller is a CIA analyst assigned to uncover Russian sleeper cells in the USA. After accessing the computer of a potential Russian spy, she stumbles on a secret dossier of deep-cover agents living in her own country. Five seemingly normal people living in plain sight. A few clicks later, everything that matters to Vivian is threatened - her job, her husband, even her four children. Vivian has vowed to defend her country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. But now she's facing impossible choices. Torn between loyalty and betrayal, allegiance and treason, love and suspicion, who can she trust? Will her next move be the right one? Critic Reviews: "You'll devour this terrific debut like the rest of us, skipping lunch, losing sleep, turning pages until the end." (John Grisham) "Karen Cleveland is the real deal - an exciting new voice in thrillers." (Patricia Cornwell) "Prediction: if you read chapter one, you'll read chapter two. If you read chapter two, you'll miss dinner, stay up far too late, and feel tired at work tomorrow. This is that kind of book. Superb." (Lee Child) Members Reviews: NOTHING I SAY IS GOING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IS IT? NEED TO KNOW Before you hit the third page of this book, you know something is not right. Not at all. Viv, who works for the CIA, seems to have it all. A loving husband, happy marriage, four kids. Her days are long and hard, but she works hard for her family and furthermore, for her country. She is loyal and true. Her job is to work the Russian spectrum, looking for cells and spies here in America. And then, and then -- To say more would spoil this book and the excitement, suspense, and surprises for others. The writing is superb. Yes, at times you can almost tell what is going to happen next, but even if you may figure out a thing or two, there are still plenty of shockers in this book. I could not put this book down. At times I was on the edge of my seat while reading. Viv isn't perfect and that what makes this story even more authentic. But this is a fun, nerve-wracking, edgy book. This is a debut novel for author Karen Cleveland. Cleveland knows her stuff as she was a CIA analyst, just like Viv. If you were put in Viv's shoes, I wonder what YOU would do? Film rights have already been sold to UNIVERSAL PICTURES for a major movie with Charlize Theron. I think the movie will be great -- the book was spectacular! Find out for yourself -- if you enjoy intrigue, mystery, Russian spies, CIA workings, the whole spy versus spy thing, and just a plain good story, this is a book you would enjoy. I know I did. Good procedural I must admit I don't usually pick up this kind of thriller, but it provided a pleasurable afternoon of reading, with the right amount of family interaction and plotting twists to keep the pages turning through to the end. There is the joy of authenticity in the plotting of this account of a CIA analyst since the author served in that role, so the procedures ring truer than usual. The heroine is flawed, homelife isn't idyllic, which adds flavor to the stew. Premier Novel This book is quite the thriller! The twists and turns keep you turning page after page. Iâve been unable to put it down.

Episode A Loyal Character Dancer Audiobook by Qiu Xiaolong Cover

A Loyal Character Dancer Audiobook by Qiu Xiaolong

Listen to this audiobook in full for free on http://hotaudiobook.com [http://hotaudiobook.com] Title: A Loyal Character Dancer Subtitle: Inspector Chen Series, Book 2 Author: Qiu Xiaolong Narrator: David Shih Format: Unabridged Length: 12 hrs and 18 mins Language: English Release date: 01-18-18 Publisher: Tantor Audio Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, International Mystery & Crime Publisher's Summary: Inspector Chen's mentor in the Shanghai Police Bureau has assigned him to escort US Marshal Catherine Rohn. Her mission is to bring Wen, the wife of a witness in an important criminal trial, to the United States. Inspector Rohn is already en route when Chen learns that Wen has unaccountably vanished from her village in Fujian. Or is this just what he is supposed to believe? Chen resents his role; he would rather investigate the triad killing in Shanghai's beautiful Bund Park. Li insists that saving face with Inspector Rohn takes priority. So Chen Cao, the ambitious son of a father who imbued him with Confucian precepts, must tread warily as he tries once again to be a good cop, a good man and also a loyal Party member. Members Reviews: Excellent story teller I enjoy the books by Qiu Xiaolong. The books are well written and well translated. It gives a interesting insight into how China and specifically Shanghai lives and breaths. It doesn't gloss over the problems that humans in China have but does a good job of explaining human nature while touching on some of the challenges brought on by the Cultural Revolution. It neither defends or excuses the way things were or are but describes humanity through the eyes of a policeman who tries to do right even if that is sometimes influenced by politics. If you want to get a glimpse of Chinese culture via a story, this is an excellent way to do that. Shanghai in the 90s I began reading this series at the suggestion of my instructor of a class about China. Chief Inspector Chen is a cop as well as a rising member of the Communist Party. He is also an English literature major and a poet. In this second episode Chen locates a missing woman. Great descriptions of food. Many interesting characters. I plan to keep reading this series. Chen Does It Again Shanghai's epicurean poet cop Chief Inspector Chen tracks down his quarry once again. What I like: that the mystery takes the reader through big city China and small city China; botanical garden China; friends and connections "guanxi" China; hotels 5-star or small rural; and what it is like for a family to live in one of Shanghai's one room apartments. This time Chen is assigned as escort/bodyguard/tourguide to a fetchingly charming U.S. Marshall who has arrived to bring back to the U.S. the Chinese wife of a Chinese man who is part of an illegal smuggling operation that brings Chinese immigrants to the USA. He has copped a plea in return for testifying against the kingpin of the operation who is standing trial in just two weeks. Simple enough, but the Chinese wife can't be found. Has the local triad (read Mafia) made off with her? Does she not want to be reunited with her husband, who has abused and beaten her? And what is to be made of a man's body clad in designer pajamas found in the public garden? Not to locate the wife is the stuff of international incident, Chinese disgrace and suspicions. It makes for a very good mystery, but the writing is flawed to my taste by too many poems and poetic references, incessant Confuscius sayings, and far too much description of the foods being served at the frequent lunches, dinners, and breakfasts that Chen and his beautiful American enjoy always at a discreet and extra fine eating place.

Paris After Midnight in Singapore Audiobook by Dean Moriarty

Listen to this audiobook in full for free on http://hotaudiobook.com [http://hotaudiobook.com] Title: Paris After Midnight in Singapore Author: Dean Moriarty Narrator: David Randall Hunter Format: Unabridged Length: 2 hrs and 10 mins Language: English Release date: 01-17-18 Publisher: Dean Moriarty Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, International Mystery & Crime Publisher's Summary: How might it have been if Holmes and Watson grew into great age together with all the forgetfulness and infirmities that age brings? And Moriarty, Holmess arch rival, would be doddering around still and causing trouble - perhaps by using modern technology such as the wireless to agitate in any way he can, and cause the most disturbance by some dastardly machine that can interrupt the wireless waves and put his voice there, even though he sits in his wheelchair and is housebound. Unreformed, Leo has spent his imprisonment plotting one final heist, but he only has a brief window following his release to pull it off. The plan is to steal more than 100 million Swedish crowns from Sweden's largest police station and then disappear forever. It is a decision that will threaten what remains of his relationships with his father and brothers, who also went to prison for the earlier robberies, and set him on a collision course with the aggressive cop who sent them to jail, John Broncks. Detective Broncks quickly figures out that the newly released Leo is up to something and vows to stop him once and for all, no matter what rules have to be broken. Before it is all over, these two men will play out the consequences not just of the crime spree that first brought them into each other's orbits, but of their earliest childhoods, when their destinies were being written by violence and abuse. Each will have to look into the abyss and answer a terrible question: is he prepared to sacrifice everything, even family, to succeed?

Episode First Casualty Audiobook by Andy Maslen Cover

First Casualty Audiobook by Andy Maslen

Listen to this audiobook in full for free on http://hotaudiobook.com [http://hotaudiobook.com] Title: First Casualty Subtitle: The Gabriel Wolfe Thrillers, Book 4 Author: Andy Maslen Narrator: Anthony Howard Format: Unabridged Length: 11 hrs and 37 mins Language: English Release date: 01-09-18 Publisher: Sunfish Ltd Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, International Mystery & Crime Publisher's Summary: When Gabriel Wolfe, a government assassin afflicted by PTSD, travels to Africa to recover the body of a former SAS comrade, he has the backing of the British prime minister. But every favor comes at a price, and now Gabriel has to complete another hit before he can continue his search for salvation. What he discovers next shakes his faith in everything he trusts. He has marched headlong into the heart of a corrupt web of land deals, blood diamonds, and the global arms trade. At the center of the web sits someone Gabriel can hardly believe is guilty. Someone hell need every ounce of his skills and resolve to defeat. Standing between him and the truth are tooled-up mercenaries, a local warlord, his machete-wielding Rock and Roll Boys, and a mysterious assassin who anticipates his every move. This complex and breathtaking action thriller is the fourth novel in Andy Maslens Gabriel Wolfe series. First Casualty begins in the middle of a firefight in Africa, where Gabriel and his partner, Britta Falskog, are facing a crew of bloodthirsty militia fighters commanded by the terrifying Mama Chissano. The action moves between London, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Hong Kong and never lets up. As he begins to uncover the truth, Gabriel sees that his adversaries have spun a web of betrayal that stretches right back to his last, fateful mission in the SAS. Fans of Andy McNab, Chris Ryan, Lee Child, and Daniel Silva are saluting Maslen as an author to watch. If you like your heroes flawed as well as resourceful, youll love Gabriel Wolfe. Hes been called "deadlier than Bond" and "more human than Reacher." Members Reviews: Promises and Lies For years, Gabriel Wolfe has been haunted by the ghost of a fallen soldier he was forced to leave behind on his last mission with the SAS. Michael "Smudge" Smith's death and abandonment was the cause of Gabriel leaving the military and one of the roots of his PTSD. And now, he finally has a chance to close the psychic wound and begin healing. He had promised himself that one day he would return to Mozambique, recover Smudge's remains and bring them home to his family. But political unrest and others factors have kept him from fulfilling his promise. Now, finally, his chance has arrived, but it comes at a price. Barbara Sutherland, Britain's Prime Minister, will clear the diplomatic red tape and provide logistics for Gabriel to search for his fallen friend, but first he must assassinate the Finance Minister of Zimbabwe, Philip Agambe. She explains that Agambe is corrupt and funneling funds to terrorist groups, so even though assassinating government officials defies international protocols, an exception should be made because of his terrorist ties. Gabriel reluctantly accepts the assignment, but is very uneasy about it. With his friend, MI5 agent Brittany Falskog joining him, Gabriel flies to Africa, where things go off the rails very quickly. A stunning revelation by Agambe followed by attempts to kill him and Britta force Gabriel to draw back, reassess the entire mission and sort truth from lies. His search for the truth leads him to Hong Kong where he revisits his past, then on to the US and finally back to the U.K. and Africa. In each book in the series, Andy Maslen takes the reader into Gabriel's past to deepen our emotional connection to the character.
