On this episode Kathryn is joined by our friend Brooke Goudy as well as Roam Fest founder Ash Zolton. Roam Fest is a three day mountain bike party in Fruita, Colorado for femme riders to celebrate getting together with like-minded folks who love riding bikes. Ash talks about how Roam Fest came to be, and how the festival has evolved over the years, and the things that haven't changed like creating community and making space for everyone. Brooke and Ash also give expert explanations of the different types of mountain bikes and mountain bike trails for those that are new to the discipline. This week Kristi is coming to us from live on the ground at SBT GRVL. Listen in as she catches up with gravel pros, age group athletes, race organizer Amity Charity, GRVL Femmes team leader Lani Woods, women’s para division champion Clara Brown, and the epic duo of mom-to-be Iz King and her own mom who took on the ride together. This year the event was spread over two days. Saturday’s non-competitive ride took riders out on a scenic route around Steamboat Springs and offered three different distances to choose from. Sunday’s option featured a pro and amateur course and had the riders speeding their way around the champagne gravel that Colorado is famous for. Melisa Rollins claimed victory in the women’s race with Lauren De Crescenzo in second, and Lauren Stephens in third. Welcome to our third episode in our SBT GRVL series! This week Kathryn and Kristi welcome cyclist and mom of two, Lani Woods. Lani is captaining a GRVL Femmes team at SBT this coming weekend, leading a group of five women through the event. Lani got her start in cycling after a knee injury in 2020 sidelined her from obstacle course racing. She found joy on the bike, and loved being able to push herself further and further. Lani has raced almost every discipline of cycling, but has gravitated towards ultra endurance events and, more recently, gravel racing. Lani spent most of her life in California, but has recently moved to Hawaii, and she is loving getting to explore new dirt roads on the island, and connecting with a new cycling community. She gives her advice for anyone who is curious about getting into gravel, and highlights why it is important to have visibility of all women on gravel start lines. This week we have our second episode of our special series with SBT GRVL, and we welcome another GRVL Femmes mentor Christie Tracy. Christie is an ultra endurance cycling specialist, who started dabbling in gravel racing about 5 years ago. She recently outright won the 2025 24 hour time trial national championships, beating every other competitor! Christie began her cycling career after doing a triathlon for her 35th birthday, where she got hooked on the challenge of cycling. She has certainly taken that challenge to so many amazing levels, and will be imparting her knowledge to her team at SBT GRVL. Christie talks about the importance of keeping a positive mindset in endurance events, and shares how she sets mini goals throughout events.
