Originally from Colombia, Rodriguez immigrated to Hartford, CT when she was four years old and began her teaching career in the community that raised her.  She has proudly taught middle school for the last 10 years and is dedicated to supporting teachers in using critical pedagogy, ethnic studies, transformative justice, and community activism to empower students and their families. She is a fierce advocate and practitioner of centering the joy and knowledge of Black, Brown, and Queer children. In the fall, she will begin a Ph.D program at Stanford University in Race, Inequality, and Language in Education. Ultimately, she sees education as liberation. Estefania holds a Master of Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in the Learning and Teaching Program and a BS in Social Studies Education from Boston University's, School of Education. Checking in with our rose and thorn The Bell Ringer  Intro to Shana Harris:  Shana Harris is an elementary educator/rockstar who has bee with CPS, Chicago public schools for 15 years. Shana’s education journey and journey within the field of education has taken her from UW Madison, the TRIP -Teaching Residency Internship Program- in Chicago, Kindergarten classroom teacher, first grade classroom teacher for 10 years, and prek for 5 years. Shana also served on her schools ILT for 12 years as well as the Network 11 ‘E11evator’ acting as a liaison between the Network and schools- presenting Literacy PD for other first grade teachers. Shana has also served as a consulting educator in which she was provided a substitute for her classroom while she traveled to other schools to work with educators on their own professional learning plans.
