The USS Boise would charge into the fight against overwhelming odds. Shells screamed through the night. Fires erupted. Men were killed at their stations. Yet somehow, the battered cruiser survived and helped turn the tide against the Imperial Japanese Navy. For Tim Dyer, the battle was more than a page in a history book. It was a night of fear. A night of courage. A night he would carry with him for the rest of his life.
