Two L-L baseball teams win District 3 gold; crowning PIAA track and field champs

All of the spring sports playoffs are in full swing, and we're here to talk about it. The state track and field and boys tennis playoffs are in the books, with plenty of L-L top finishers to discuss. On the baseball diamond, Lampeter-Strasburg and Northern Lebanon pocketed district championships. And insoftball, Northern Lebanon will go for a title. Multiple L-L teams are in boys and girls lacrosse district title matchups, and the boys volleyball district playoffs are coming to a head, with a couple of L-L squads still in line to win it all. L-L crowns spring sports champs; smashing District 3 track and field records

All of the Lancaster-Lebanon League spring sports individual and team champions have been crowned, as the calendar quickly approaches late May, and the weather starts heating up. Last week alone, lacrosse, volleyball, baseball and softball league champs hoisted gold trophies. And this past weekend, L-L athletes aplenty won titles at the District 3 track and field championships. That includes Cedar Crest senior Kaddel Howard, who shattered a record that was on the books since 1977. Playoff fever ... catch it. Every L-L League spring sport is now knee-deep in the playoffs. In fact, the track and field crew had their championships this past weekend. Baseball, softball, lacrosse and volleyball have all reached their semifinal and championship rounds. And the tennis combatants are already in the PIAA state playoffs. Don't look now, but the L-L League spring sports playoffs are ready for liftoff. In fact, the tennis postseason is already well underway, and it's been a great couple of weeks for Hempfield's Braylen Garcia, who has pocked league and  District 3 Class 3A singles championships. Trio of L-L League alums will get a shot in NFL; spring sports heating up

While all of the races in all of the spring sports chases across the board are heating up as the calendar is about to flip to May, a fall sport grabbed most of the headlines in the last week. Manheim Central grads Evan Simon and Nate Reed and Warwick grad Nolan Rucci have inked undrafted freeagent deals, and will get a shot to make an NFL team - Simon with the New York Giants, Reed with the Las Vegas Raiders, and Rucci with the Indianapolis Colts.
