Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks the anniversary of the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It commemorates the day in 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of the Civil War and the freedom of all enslaved people, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Leaders can help execute the mission of Juneteenth by promoting education and awareness about its historical significance, advocating for policies that address racial inequalities, and supporting community events that celebrate African American culture and achievements but are leaders aware of these opportunities?
