Systems, Scarcity & Why Are We Doing It All Alone?
"Systems That Weren't Designed For Us" is a four-part conversation series from Legacy of Loud, and this episode is where it starts — by naming the thing out loud. Women move through work, healthcare, motherhood, and partnership systems that were never built around their lives, bodies, or realities, and are still expected to perform inside them as if they were.
Recorded live at the Museum in Spite of Everything in Brooklyn, this first conversation brings together five women — including a New York agency CEO, a psychiatris specializing in women’s mental health, a chief creative officer, two creative talent agents and the founder of Not Safe For Mom Group — to do exactly that. Over the course of the night they move from the gaps in women's health research and the realities of hormones and perimenopause, to the unspoken costs of leadership, divorce and the systems around it, dating and beauty standards, maternity leave, mental health, and what it means to model different choices for the next generation.
