Steve did it again 3 great little stories that held my total interest until I had read them all! I like this book. I have had this book on my Kindle for quite so time. It is four tales of "Horror". I put "Horror" because the second one Wetside really wasn't horror. It's heroes were gay weresquids? fighting nazi zombies.Nazi was in the zombies title BUT they didn't do anything really Nazi like... only not really fighting them. It is a very bizarre story and frankly I would read another book with those two guys if I was not on a spending fast. The second story is very silly and light hearted. I am not going to try and ruin the other three tales of horror. The underlining theme of the first three stories is love. The first tale is of a man trying to keep the sex interesting so his wife won't leave him. It goes bad. The second one as I mention is gay weresquid or maybe gay squid men and they are happy. The third one is love gone way wrong and let us say at the end it is hell in a handbasket time. Now I like the first three tales. I was disappointed at first there was only three. However Steve Vernon has included an entire story from another book here. This one Catcall was my favorite. It starts at a spooky house with a group of kids staring up at it. It rambles along following a child's life that has had his share of heartbreak. It reaches the climax and frankly I didn't see it coming. Pay attention. I like stories that make you pay attention. If I was not focused on saving money, I would probably be rather reading more short stories by Steve Vernon. He has quite a way with words. Very good! Bad Valentines is a collection of three short stories by Steve Vernon. This was an entertaining quick read, and offered something quite different from normal horror fair. The first story, Change of Pace, features a well meaning bumbling man who just wants to please his wife.

The first one, Active Reader, just made me cringe in a way that you do when you see a scene in a horror movie, but still love it. Browser, the second was my favorite of the three. It is reminiscent of a Twilight Zone episode and makes you think before ever not finishing a book! And Distraction was just disturbing in a way that you can't help but relate(and of course not take the same actions!). Mark Leslie is an author that I will definitely seek more of, I love the kind of books that peek your interest and leave you with an intelligent, well thought out story. The choice of Eric Bryan Moore for the narration of this anthology is brilliant. EBM has a voice that can create that air of mystique and horror, making you crawl into the mind of the characters and feel their emotions. He did a spectacular job with these three short stories. Creepy fun! This was a collection of 3 short interesting and creepy stories. But, creepy like twilight zone or those late night shows like the hitchhiker. I don't believe I've ever read or listened to anything by Mark Leslie before. But, these stories were creative and fun. I have, however, listened to Eric Bryan Moore, as he's one of my favorite narrators. And, it was very different than anything I've listened to narrated by him so far. Of course he did an amazing job, surprising me along the way. His characterization of Gus Sherrington was just great! Loved it. These were a lot of fun.
