32. Forrest Gump by Robert Zemeckis

Have you found Jesus yet, Gump? What a strange film this is. Not a lot of the “intellectual-challenged” films from this era (not named Rain Man) have survived the cannon fire of modern day critics. Looking especially hard at you, Radio.  It’s hard to imagine that one of those films broke all kinds of records, won all kinds of awards, and had all kinds of weirdly endearing America and apple pie-flavored charm.  But hey, that’s Forrest Gump for ya.  But enough of all that genuine analysis, we’re here to ask the real questions.  For example:  Was this film an allegory for the biblical Book of Hosea? Was Lieutenant Dan fit to serve in the LORD’s army? Was Jenny a bad person? 31. Hell or High Water by David Mackenzie

At times it feels more like a poem or painting than it does a film.  So join the Fab Four as we dive into our deepest film so far. Okay, here's the thing.  Hahahahahaha.  No but seriously.  This movie is so bonkers. Gripping paranoia, brain-melting special effects, and whatever that giant hat was that Kurt Russell wore. Everything about this movie just rocks to high heaven.  But honestly, we're here to ask the questions that no other podcast is BRAVE enough to ask. Like, why isn't Keith David more appreciated? What happened to Wilford Brimley's mustache? Is "the thing" just a metaphor for the Pentecost? And how does this story relate to church history?
