Brenda Coulter's Life Changing Surgery- Thanks to Sunnybrook Hospitals Cranial Prosthetics Unit

Meet Brenda Coulter, and the Anaplastologist David Morrison, one of Sunnybrooks Craniofacial Prosthetics Unit (CPU) team whose new  groundbreaking procedure is changing lives in a GOOD Way. Since that fateful day when  half of Brenda's face was sheared off when a piece of metal that crashed through her windshield while driving on an Ontario highway, Brenda has undergone 12 surgeries. A former hair colourist, Brenda lost one eye in the accident and most of her sight in the other. Currently, Brenda glues on a prosthetic that more often than not, goes on a bit haphazardly as she is legally blind. Brenda was the first patient at Sunnybrook – and in the world – where surgeons used a state-of-the-art navigation system to help guide the placement of two 3-millimetre screws. Sunnybrook’s CPU team is made up of two anaplastologists (specialists trained in the art and science of creating custom prosthetic devices), two head and neck surgeons, a coordinator and a maxillofacial prosthodontist (a highly specialized dentist who is an expert in the prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with facial differences due to trauma, cancer or congenital malformation). When all is said and done, Brenda's new prothsetic will be held on magnetically and now she is waiting for the healing to take place so part 2- the modelling, painting and fitting is next.

Dena Merriam's Journey Through Time

Dena Merriam is a polymath. In her book, My Journey Through Time, Dena experiences spontaneous memory's of 7 lifetimes, and is able to see the working of Karma through all her lives, the souls she has traveled with and the relevance of this current life to her past ones.  It's extraordinary. Dena's book is definitely a source of comfort for anyone who fears the one mystery we all share, DEATH. She clearly shows how the soul continues on after this shell of a body expires in each lifetime. A Life of Inconvenience- The Lynda Todd Story

Lynda Todd was born legally blind but that didn't stop her from riding horses, driving a motorized Go Cart or even taking Web Design as a course of study. It seems, everyone had Lynda labeled 'disabled'  and forgot to tell her. Lynda prefers 'Inconvenienced' to disabled. Lynda is an adrenaline junkie. This mom of two, was recently featured in an AX Throwing Video, she loves archery, tandem bike riding, pistol shooting and this summer she will be going mountain climbing in Utah. After moving from the small town she grew up in to the big city of Peterborough, Lynda finally caved and got 'cane' training from the CNIB after falling flat on her face off a curb. This incredible woman has a terrific attitude, a great sense of humour, marked by her coming in Second in the HUMOUR category at Toastmasters Masters competition. Lynda will totally inspire you.
