Mehr Moments to Ponder

Pondering is a lost practice today.  The idea that we might actually take a few moments  to think deeply about anything seems indulgent in our busy, full schedules.  Yet, our souls crave rest  and space to breathe, process our lives, choices, and walk with Jesus.  I invite you to join me fora few moments to take in Scripture and take away a few thoughts to ponder throughout your day.

Episode 177: The Four Warning Signs of Spiritual Drift and What to Do About Them (Neh. 13)

Thought to share? Send me a text... [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1719030/fan_mail/new] Are you slowly drifting from God without realizing it? Spiritual drift rarely happens all at once—it often begins through small compromises, distractions, busyness, and neglect. In Episode 177, we’re unpacking how subtle spiritual drift can quietly distance us from God, the warning signs to recognize, and how to intentionally realign your faith before compromise becomes disconnection. If you’ve been feeling spiritually numb, distracted, or far from God, this episode will encourage you to recognize the drift and return to Him with grace. In this episode: * How spiritual drift begins * The hidden danger of small compromises * Signs you may be drifting spiritually * How to realign your heart with God * Practical steps to strengthen your faith again Your relationship with God doesn’t usually unravel in one moment—it’s shaped daily, one step at a time. A Christian podcast centered on Jesus, the Bible, and God explores religion through the Old Testament and New Testament, sharing Bible stories and Bible explained insights to help women of faith and Jesus followers grow in faith, strengthen their relationship with God, and know God more deeply through Bible study, women Bible study, and practical Christianity, all while encouraging spiritual growth, understanding identity in Christ, and learning to understand Bible teachings to become closer to God. Episode 176: Something Feels Off... (Neh. 12:44-13:3)

Thought to share? Send me a text... [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1719030/fan_mail/new] We talk about why life can feel slightly off when our hearts drift out of alignment with God, even if nothing looks “wrong” on the outside. We walk through Nehemiah and Psalm 37 to show how surrender and boundaries help the Holy Spirit realign our desires so our lives feel whole again.   • the tire alignment story as a picture of spiritual drift over time   • Nehemiah 12 and why joyful giving reveals heart alignment   • alignment showing up in what we are willing to surrender   • Nehemiah 13 and the protective purpose of boundaries   • removing influences that quietly pull us away from God   • asking where life feels off right now and listening to conviction   • Psalm 37:4 and how delight in the Lord reshapes desire   • taking one small step back toward alignment instead of trying to fix everything at once   If you know someone who is feeling a little off in life, I encourage you to share these words from Nehemiah and Psalm 37 today.   A Christian podcast centered on Jesus, the Bible, and God explores religion through the Old Testament and New Testament, sharing Bible stories and Bible explained insights to help women of faith and Jesus followers grow in faith, strengthen their relationship with God, and know God more deeply through Bible study, women Bible study, and practical Christianity, all while encouraging spiritual growth, understanding identity in Christ, and learning to understand Bible teachings to become closer to God.. Episode 175: Too Busy for Joy? (Neh. 12:1-43)

Thought to share? Send me a text... [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1719030/fan_mail/new] Joy has not vanished; we have often been moving so fast that we miss the moments where God is inviting us to experience it. We slow down, define biblical joy, and learn from Nehemiah why celebrating God’s faithfulness helps joy stick. • missing meaningful moments due to exhaustion and constant rushing • real-life busyness and the hidden belief that we do not have time • giving ourselves permission to pause and enjoy what is good • defining biblical joy as deep contentment rooted in God • Nehemiah 12 and the dedication of the wall as a model of chosen celebration • telling stories and marking God’s work as a way to keep joy alive • practical examples like finishing the coffee and staying present at the birthday I've attached a permission slip in the show notes. If you're like me and need a reminder that it's okay to pause and take in the joy, I encourage you to download the slip, fill it out, and post it where you'll be reminded. https://betsymarvin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/permission-slip-for-eps.-175.jpg [https://betsymarvin.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/permission-slip-for-eps.-175.jpg] A christian podcast centered on Jesus, the Bible, and God explores faith through the Old Testament and New Testament, sharing Bible stories and Bible explained insights to help women of faith and Jesus followers grow in faith, strengthen their relationship with God, and know God more deeply through Bible study, women Bible study, and practical christianity, all while encouraging spiritual growth, understanding identity in christ, and learning to understand Bible teachings to become closer to God. Episode 174: You Follow God...So Why Doesn't It Feel Right? (Neh. 11)

Thought to share? Send me a text... [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1719030/fan_mail/new] Have you ever obeyed God and then quietly wondered if you made the wrong choice? That question can feel scary because you did the “right” thing, you prayed, you tried to follow his lead and the road still got harder. Today we sit in that tension and name what many of us feel: faith can be uncomfortable, lonely, and costly, even when God is the one who led us there.  We start with a real story of relocation during COVID, the kind of move that looks fine on paper but shakes up everything that used to feel stable: community, friendships, routines, ministry, even the simple comfort of knowing where you belong. Then we open to Nehemiah 7 and Nehemiah 11, where Jerusalem has rebuilt walls but an empty, underpopulated city. Nehemiah’s plan to repopulate the holy city through sacred lots highlights a bigger spiritual truth: God’s restoration often moves from external repair to internal surrender.  We connect that biblical story to everyday Christian life, where spiritual growth means more than better behavior. It can look like rearranging your schedule to spend time with God, stepping away from relationships that dull your faith, rethinking finances, practicing forgiveness, and choosing words and actions that honor Jesus. If your life looks “rebuilt” but still feels empty, this conversation offers a clear next step: move in, get settled, and put God at the center, not just included. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend who feels stuck, and leave a review so more people can find the podcast. Eps. 173: Why You Keep Struggling to Do What You Know Is Right (Neh. 10)

Thought to share? Send me a text... [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1719030/fan_mail/new] Have you ever found yourself knowing the right thing to do… but struggling to actually do it in the moment? You’re not alone. In Nehemiah 10, the people of Israel make a bold move—they don’t just feel convicted, they put their commitment to God in writing. They decide ahead of time how they will live, what they will prioritize, and where they will draw the line. And it changes everything. In this episode, we talk about: *  Why spiritual growth requires more than good intentions  *  How pre-deciding your values makes daily obedience easier  *  What it looks like to honor God in your home, work, and priorities  *  The difference between the Old Covenant and the freedom we have through Jesus Christ If you’ve ever felt inconsistent in your faith or frustrated by your own choices, this episode will help you see why—and show you a better way forward. Because the decisions you make ahead of time will shape the life you live in the moment.
