We chat all about the fear attached to boundaries and how we overcome this so our relationships in our work and personal life can thrive. Pauline and Jen will be sharing their own experiences of how boundaries can be set, and delve into how we need to set boundaries in the changing rooms too! Episode Marie Newman on Breast Cancer, Confidence and Style Cover

Marie Newman on Breast Cancer, Confidence and Style

This week on Fashion Unplugged we are talking about the very important topic of breast cancer and the effects this has on women going through it, both physically and emotionally. Breast cancer affects so many women, with 1 in 7 UK females being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Knowing someone close to you, or going through this yourself, it is a life changing experience. We want to share the importance of checking yourself, because the earlier breast cancer is diagnosed, the better the chance of successful treatment. And to join us this week on the podcast we have the special guest Marie, a content creator who is currently going through breast cancer treatment. She is going to share her story and also give us her thoughts on how her clothing and style can help how she feels through this time. Marie is a Wolverhampton girl through and through now living in Shropshire. She’s mom to archie and a dog mom to Dolly & Cybil, and to say she has slight addiction to shopping is probably underselling it slightly! She has spent the majority of her career in banking & finance, but more recently working with her fiancé James who recently set up his own business. Her love of clothes and fashion started from a really early age and her Instagram page was born from her friends encouraging her to share her style and fashion ideas, and she’s so glad she did….  Timestamps 5:20 The breast cancer journey 10:40 Checking your breasts (https://www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/womens-health/how-should-i-check-my-breasts/) [https://www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/womens-health/how-should-i-check-my-breasts/)] 18:10 Changes within yourself during this time, physically and mentally 24:50 Where to find support during this time 28:30 What do you do to make yourself feel better during this time 35.40 How has fashion and beauty helped you to feel good during this time? 41:10 Tell us more about your personal style References 1 in 7 UK females will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/health-professional/cancer-statistics/statistics-by-cancer-type/breast-cancer [https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/health-professional/cancer-statistics/statistics-by-cancer-type/breast-cancer] When diagnosed at its earliest stage, all (100%) people with breast cancer will survive their disease for one year or more, compared with 2 in 3 (66%) people when the disease is diagnosed at the latest stage.
