The Life and Teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya 4

In our final session with Yogacharya Sridharan, we had the opportunity to ask questions. Recognizing the cultural and worldview differences between East and West, I thought it would be helpful to share some of the most relevant questions and answers. By listening to this episode and the three previous ones, we gain a deeper understanding of Sri Krishnamacharya’s teachings and worldview, as well as valuable insights into the roots of modern yoga. The Life and Teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya 3

While the life of Sri Krishnamacharya has been explored to a great extent, his personal beliefs and philosophical background remain somewhat more mysterious. In this podcast, Yogacharya Sridharan, a senior mentor from the Sri Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandir in Chennai, will present a text called Yoga Valli, composed by Krishnamacharya, which contains his commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Sri Krishnamacharya outlines his personal beliefs and approach to yoga as both a philosophy and a spiritual practice. In doing so, he quotes the Bhagavad Gita, various Upanishads, and other texts to create a thorough and comprehensive approach to yoga.
