Karla Pretorius Unlocked: The Big Interview

Netball legend Karla Pretorius is our latest Big Interview guest, and after her making South Africa’s Commonwealth Games 12 at 36 years old, there’s plenty to chat about. The conversation begins by charting Pretorius’ inclusion following her sabbatical. The South African legend explains why she needed to step away and what she learnt about herself as she rebuilt herself piece-by-piece. She shares more about her special TNL season with the Free State Crinums and why the Proteas long squad in April gave her a much-needed boost to make her selection possible. We reflect on some of the coaches Pretorius has played under, their impact and why Coach Jenny van Dyk is the one to lead the Proteas in Glasgow. The squad pod is here, Paul and Chloe dive into a bump international episode after a busy few days ahead as the Commonwealth Games looms on the horizon. We were fortunate enough to speak to Anna, who reveals some of the tough decisions that were made and also the expectation on the squad. AO Thunder’s Historic Fifth Title — Grand Final Analysis & Emotional Goodbyes

Paul and Chloe dig into the conclusion of a brilliant netball super league season, with a deep dive into an EPIC Grand Final. Manchester Thunder are crowned champions for a fifth time, equalling the NSL record, and we hear from the heroes of the day. An emotional Karen Greig reflects on the season, Cerys Finn talks us through a crazy couple of weeks at the end of a crazy season, Elia McCormick tells us why she’s stepping away at the very top, and Sophie Fawns reflects on a debut season to remember. There’s the view from Pulse too as head coach Sam Bird and captain Zara Everitt reflect on a great defence of their maiden title, falling just short after a rollercoaster season. On top of all that, we break down where the game was won and lost, and it really came down to fine margins - but the Lois Pearson-Sophie Fawns axis proved crucial.
