In deze aflevering gaan we terug naar Gaza. Generaties Palestijnen zijn er ontheemd, vervolgd en gedood. Het gebied is afgegrendeld van de buitenwereld. De strook een fragment van Palestina. Op 22 juli 2002 verwoestte een luchtaanval op een appartementencomplex vele levens. Opgroeien in een bezet gebied omgeven door geweld heeft verwoestende gevolgen vor kinderen.. In deze aflevering gaan we terug naar 1982. Mijn oom Khaled woont en werkt als arts in West Beiroet. Te midden van de oorverdovende knallen en sirenes zoekt mijn oom Khaled met zijn buurtgenoten naar dekking in de Libanese hoofdstad Beirut. Dit bombardement was het begin van de Israelische invasie in Libanon. Tien weken lang wordt Beirut gebombardeerd en belegerd. In deze vijfde aflevering, de eerste van het tweede seizoen, gaan we terug naar 1996. Het is onrustig in Palestina. Studenten demonstreren tegen het autoritaire gezag van de kersverse Palestijnse Autoriteit. Na de volksopstand is het Israël toch gelukt met een alternatief leiderschap in het geheim te onderhandelen over zelfbestuur. Terwijl Palestijnen dachten dat er werd onderhandeld, kon de onteigening van land en de bouw van nederzettingen doorgaan. Op 24 september 1996 opende premier Netanyahu een tunnel onder de Al Aqsa moskee in Jeruzalem. Palestijnen gingen de straat op en werden beschoten door het Israelische leger. Is dit het begin van een nieuwe intifada? In de vierde aflevering gaan we terug naar 1948. Het Britse mandaat hield op en het lot van Palestina kwam in handen van de VN. Palestijnse steden en dorpen werden aangevallen, inwoners weggejaagd, huizen werden opgeblazen en degenen die zich daartegen probeerden te verzetten werden geëxecuteerd. Op 14 juli 1948 wordt de stad Ramleh aangevallen en ziet de familie van oma Um Naji zich gedwongen de stad te verlaten. Ze moesten hun bezittingen achterlaten, huizen werden geplunderd en de inwoners werden opgejaagd. In de derde aflevering gaan we terug naar 1963. De aankomst van een vliegtuig met Palestijnen op Schiphol. Ze worden opgewacht door de portier van de Romi, de Rotterdamse margarinefabriek, waar ze gaan werken. Vier jaar later breekt de oorlog uit waarbij Israël de Westelijke Jordaanoever en de Gazastrook bezet. Op 4 augustus 1968 was opa Radi onderweg van Amman in Jordanië naar de Westelijke Jordaanoever. Bij Salt wordt zijn taxi met daarin een vrouw en haar kinderen gebombardeerd door Israëlische straaljagers. Opa Radi is op slag dood.
