In this episode of Philosophy in Life, Otis Birnbaum and guest Simon Leslie Goldstick answer the question: Should religion exist and does it do more harm or good for society? They also venture deeper into the question of exploring the moral dilemmas it poses in our everyday lives, looking into the themes of community and competition.

In this episode Otis dives into the human desire to escape. He looks at how escapism is a chief want that motivates a plethora of our decisions and actions. He also delves into a concept called the constant evolution of normality and how it can effect our escapist desires and subsequently our happiness. In this prologue Otis explains the rift in the way that philosophy is being discussed in our society. He speaks on the issues of the over academfication of philosophy, as well as Himamovic's complaint of philosophy's use to justify personal beliefs and actions that are the fronts of other, often immoral, interests. In this prologue Otis will explain how the Philosophy in Life Podcast will combat this, and bring back dignity to the perception of philosophy.
