98 FolgenAs veterans are rolling into training camps around the country, Ian, Mike and Tom get together to talk about what's on deck for the NFL in the era of Covid-19. They discuss opt-outs, the recent deal between the NFL and the NFLPA and much more. Ian also catches up with a pair of special guests: the NFL's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Allen Sills, to talk about the plan to keep the season on track (15:20) and The Ringer's Tyler Tynes (39:20), who joins to talk about the six-part podcast they dropped recently on the life and career of Cam Newton.
Ian, Tom and Mike get back together after a month apart to react to franchise tag deals that happened (Derrick Henry, Chris Jones and Myles Garrett) and those that didn't (like Dak Prescott). They also deal with the NFL's hardest names to pronounce - a topic pretty important in the daily life of guys who have to (try to) correctly say those names on live TV (8:30). And, of course, the guys talk about some of the dozens and dozens of variables that lie ahead as the league attempts to get the 2020 season started. Also, Ian is joined by soon-to-be Pro Football Hall of Famer and Denver Broncos legend Steve Atwater (15:50).
NFL.com columnist Judy Battista joins Ian to discuss several Cowboys and Texans players testing positive for Coronavirus and Tom stops by to talk about how the NFL could deal with social distancing. Plus new Indianapolis Colt DeForest Buckner (16:15) talks to Ian about his trade and why this Colts team is primed for a big year.
Tre Boston, an outspoken leader on the Carolina Panthers, joins Ian to talk about the protests that have spread coast-to-coast in the two weeks since George Floyd's death in police custody in Minneapolis (17:30). Meanwhile, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo stop by to talk about the protests, the latest on the NFL's return in the era of the coronavirus and much more.
Ian, Tom and Mike get together to catch up after a long weekend in America. Tom is in Minnesota and had a front-row seat and they talk through everything that's happened since George Floyd was killed last Monday on a street in Minneapolis. Meanwhile, in the business of football, Ian caught up with Trent Williams (20:35) to talk about his trade from Washington to San Francisco and everything that led up to it. Plus, teams are starting to return to facilities.
