Think homelessness is just about being without a roof over your head? 'Reputation' from HEATDRAWN Media shatters that illusion. Hosted by Ethan Ward, an award-winning journalist with firsthand experience in homelessness, this podcast goes beyond the surface. It's raw, unfiltered, and real. Ethan brings you eye-opening conversations with guests like L.A. Mayor Karen Bass and medical death investigators, reflecting on topics that most shy away from. We're talking about the real impact of homelessness on various communities; from trans people in shelters to families that lost loved ones. Winner of a 2024 LA Press Club SoCal Journalism Award (2nd place) for Best Limited Series and a 2023 Housing Narrative Award for Best Podcast Episode, 'Reputation' is a deeper exploration of a misunderstood humanitarian crisis. It's for those passionate about social justice, committed to making a difference, or simply craving a dose of reality. Reputation: the beliefs or opinions held about someone or something. Prepare to look in the mirror.

Look in the Mirror

It’s easy to shift blame on politicians or the government. But what can regular people do to be part of the solution? What will history say about our response to this crisis? In this final episode, Ethan chats with Lizzy Calhoun, a film editor and mutual aid worker who is all about direct action.  Lizzy's involvement with mutual aid began with volunteering to serve food on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles during the pandemic. She describes her initial feelings of anxiety the first time she went to Skid Row. Lizzy also talks about the importance of empathy and compassion to build meaningful connections with the unhoused people she serves.   Mentioned this episode: Instagram: @foodnotbombsdtla Facebook: @DTLAfoodnotbombs Website: Home | Foodnotbombsdtla [https://foodnotbombsdtla.wixsite.com/foodnotbombsdtla] EPISODE CREDITS: 'Reputation' is executive produced, edited, and fact-checked by Ethan Ward [https://www.iamethanward.com/].
