Their stories reflect a larger movement: in recent months, more than 300,000 Black women—many of them high-performing, highly educated professionals—have been laid off or displaced from corporate roles amid a volatile, employer-driven job market. Instead of waiting to be rehired, many are turning disruption into opportunity—betting on themselves, their expertise, and their ability to create what corporate systems could not sustain.
