Why is it important to get off the grid

In episode 5 of season 1, Erin talks to Bart all about getting off the grid and why we should escape the day to day craziness and the benefits it has on our mental health.  According to Business Insider, the typical mobile phone users touch their phones 2617 times a day. - Dscout Research: People Touch Cellphones 2,617 Times a Day (businessinsider.com) [https://www.businessinsider.com/dscout-research-people-touch-cell-phones-2617-times-a-day-2016-7] Taking holidays can help with the following: life satisfaction, physical improvements, mental health benefits and improve productivity. - https://www.apadivisions.org/division-28/publications/newsletters/psychopharmacology/2017/07/vacation [https://www.apadivisions.org/division-28/publications/newsletters/psychopharmacology/2017/07/vacation]  In this week’s episode I am joined by Barty’s COO Bart who has just returned from an adventure of a lifetime in Nepal (which we will get into in a later episode) and we are talking all about what getting off the grid looks like, why getting off the grid is beneficial and what’s next for Barty Single Origin now that we’re back. Episode Failure & failing gracefully Cover

Failure & failing gracefully

In episode 4 of season 1, Erin talks to Bart about failure, taking a deeper look, failing gracefully and why it’s actually a good thing, a positive.  Brene Brown says that failure is just another word for education and it’s a part of life but how can we see it as a positive and what can we learn from our failures?  Dr Guy Winch says that failure is a psychological injury and we should treat failing like we would a physical injury, giving us time to heal from it and putting things in place so we reduce the impact next time.  In last week's episode, Bart mentioned that we should fail hard and fail often so we look into how he applies this to his life, how his failures have shaped who he is and how he thinks we should handle failures.  Just wanted to give a big shout out & thanks to ReachOut, Avoca Ventures, Oscar Mike Travel and Alternative Brewing who are locked in as Barty’s Premium Sponsors for 2022.  If you’re keen to support us or become a sponsor drop by ‘The About Us’ section on our website or DM us any time. bartysingleorigin.com [https://bartysingleorigin.com/]

Episode Finding inspiration & setting personal goals Cover

Finding inspiration & setting personal goals

In this episode 3 of season 1, Erin talks to Bart our COO about what inspires him and what methods he uses to achieve (crush) his goals. Along with looking at the importance behind setting personal goals whether big or small. According to psychologists Dr Edwin Locke and Dr Gary Latham [https://positivepsychology.com/goal-setting-psychology/] setting goals are linked with higher motivation, self-esteem, self-confidence, and autonomy. Psychologist Gail Mathews found in 2015 [https://www.psychologytoday.com/au/blog/the-moment-youth/201803/goal-setting-is-linked-higher-achievement] that people who wrote down their goals were 33% more likely to achieve them than those who only thought about the goal. In last week's episode, we did a deep dive on Bart so it only makes sense to talk to him about what drives him to do what he does, two weeks before a 5-weeks trek in Nepal, understanding what inspires him to keep going and why he feels it’s super important to set personal goals. Episode Deep dive on Bart the COO Cover

Deep dive on Bart the COO

In episode 2 of Season 1 we are doing a deep dive on the founder and COO of Barty Single Origin, Bart.  Looking at who he really is, what he does when he’s not working and anything else we can uncover. The Australian Dyslexic Foundation says [https://dyslexiaassociation.org.au/dyslexia-in-australia/] that 10% of the population has Dyslexia however they believe it’s probably more than in places such as Canada and the UK estimated that up to 20% of the population has Dyslexia.  WEB MD says [https://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/adhd-dyslexia-tell-apart] that 3 in 10 people with Dyslexia also have ADHD and if you have ADHD you are 6 times more likely than most to have a mental illness or a learning disorder such as Dyslexia.  In last week's episode, we learnt all about Barty Single Origin and the people behind it. So, it’s only fitting to do a deeper dive on our COO Bart in this episode and really get to know him, nothing is off-limits.
