Can Owning My Desires Heal the World?

In our final episode of season 2 of the Beauty In-Between Podcast, we had the delight of welcoming Tracey Gee! Tracey is a certified leadership coach and author, and we got to discuss topics from the importance of fiber to the importance of naming our desires and the challenges that come with it. We talked about how societal and personal pressures can make it difficult to articulate what we truly want, and the significance of approaching this process with kindness and honesty. Tracey shares insights from her book, The Magic of Knowing What You Want (which everyone should go read and work through!), and emphasizes the power of recognizing both small and large desires as valid. What could unlock in your life if you didn't cut your wants off at the knees before you even get started, and put everything on the table? This felt like the perfect conclusion to our season talking about different elements of identity and ultimately encourages our listeners to trust yourselves and embrace the journey of self-discovery without the pressure of perfection. Episode Embracing Introversion & Identity Cover

Embracing Introversion & Identity

This is an episode we have had in the making since we ideated this podcast–an introversion takeover! We got to have a conversation with biracial Korean American author, writer, and melancholy dreamer Tasha Jun. In our conversation continuing to talk about threads that make up identity, Gabe & Tasha both get into sharing honestly about their experiences as introverts living in an extroverted, fast-paced capitalistic society. Gabe even flips the script and asks Katie about her experience as an extroverted, Mixed Christian Asian American woman and how her voice has not always been welcomed in every room. Our conversation explores personal experiences, cultural expectations, and the importance of creating space for all voices. Join as we talk about the strength and gift of making space for introverted voices and leaning into the quiet, still, contemplative spaces of life. How Does My Identity Shape My Spirituality?

In this episode, we are SO excited to get to talk with Roslyn Hernandez about the intersectionality of our spirituality and identity. Roslyn is a Latina public theologian, content producer, creative strategist, and spiritual director passionate about resourcing emerging adults as they navigate faith, identity, and justice. In this episode, we get into co-imagining together what it can look like (and what it has looked like for us) to decolonize and indigenize our faith, engage in communal theology, and the fruit of what the practice of digging into our own roots and stories can bring to individuals and into the community for our collective flourishing. In this episode of the Beauty In-Between podcast, we're exploring how giving space and priority to the things that bring you joy in your life can show you more of who you are. We talk about all the things: joy, personal growth, and where community overlaps with video games and coffee culture. Recognizing and embracing personal joys does make an impact on your growth. We had fun talking in this episode about the intersection of identity and enjoyment, and the value of slowing down to appreciate life's simple pleasures.
