The court refused to overturn the Madras High Court's decision, advising a regular bail application instead. Balaji's withdrawal of the medical bail plea was granted. 2. Meanwhile, in the fiercely contested Telangana assembly elections, an independent candidate, Karne Shireesha (26) alias Barrelakka, is causing a stir in the Kollapur constituency of Nagarkurnool district. The return flight, QP 1486, leaves Port Blair at 10:35 am, arrives in Chennai at 1 pm, and reaches Bengaluru at 2:50 pm. 6. The now-cancelled train was preferred for its convenience and punctuality, serving hundreds from the twin cities who found it easier to secure reservations compared to other night trains. 8. Meanwhile, BJP's Sushil Kumar Modi criticized Congress, RJD, and JD-U for Bihar's underdevelopment, citing their prolonged rule in the state. Kim praised space scientists, emphasizing the launch's importance in confronting hostile forces. State media images depicted Kim's family celebrating, emphasizing the satellite's military potential. This was North Korea's third satellite attempt this year. 3. In a recent development, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo admitted unpreparedness for the Olympics 2024, citing transportation and housing concerns, especially for the homeless. Additionally, tenders for 750 MW solar substations have been initiated, with a fixed rate of ₹3.17 per unit by the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission. 2. In other headlines, Karnataka's legislative delegation, led by Assembly Speaker UT Khader Fareed, visited the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly to observe the implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application, aiming to make the assembly paperless. Discussions in a lighthearted manner between UP Speaker Satish Mahana and Khader prompted this visit. Turning our attention to international news, Israel and Hamas agreed on a ceasefire, marking the first pause in the ongoing conflict since October. Israel pledged a four-day halt in bombardment in exchange for the release of 50 hostages by Hamas. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated the war wouldn't end until Hamas is eradicated and all hostages freed. Qatar mediated the deal, credited partly to US President Joe Biden's involvement in more hostages and fewer concessions. 2. In ongoing news, the US conducted precision strikes on two Iraq facilities in retaliation to the recent attacks on US and Coalition forces by Iran and its proxies. The strikes aimed at Iranian-backed groups were a direct response to an attack involving close-range ballistic missiles on November 21 in Iraq. The strikes reportedly hit a vehicle of a pro-Iranian group in a convoy near Baghdad. 3. In a recent development, South African lawmakers passed a motion to close the Israeli embassy and sever diplomatic ties with Israel in the backdrop of the BRICS virtual meeting held recently.
