EP9: ft Lela Howard: Childhood Trauma Series (Part 1)

Trigger warning: This episode focuses on childhood trauma, please be aware that this episode may be triggering for some individuals. Join us to hear Part 1 of Lela Howard's story and learn more about how to identify your adverse childhood experiences. After diving into Lela's childhood, Dr. Kaitlyn Goubeau, CEO of Center for Justice Social Work, performs an ACE test on Lela. ACE stands for Adverse Childhood Experiences, this test measures various situations that children experience that have a major impact on their lifelong health. ACEs are directly related to trauma and how trauma can rewire and alter your genes. Trauma doesn't stop with you, rather it gets passed on to your children and your children's children. In order to truly be healthy, you must be mindful of your experiences and how they impact you. Often times, these symptoms aren't obvious. They are interwoven into the person we are based on our environment. Follow along for future episodes where we will do a deep dive into various aspects of her life and how she has taken the steps to identify and heal her trauma. For more information on ACEs, please go to: https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/aces/index.html [https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/aces/index.html] Follow @lelamhoward on Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/lelamhoward/] Follow @centerforjusticesocialwork on Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/centerforjusticesocialwork/]
